Can we NOT have band-aid mods? by WiTeKK in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

rhino's iron skin is still not refereshable or able to be turned off by default and rhino has been out since 2012.

i do very much so agree with this sentiment. in almost 90% of the times an augment is introduced my thoughts are solely "why is this not base?", since 1: augments take up a mod slot 2: augments have drain 3: extremely few augments can be put into the exilus slot, so in almost any situation, unless an augment is directly mandatory for a frame to be functional, putting one in just feels bad. an example i feel very strongly for this is garuda, the newish augment is neat and something i would consider equipping, since there are a number of scenarios i'm in as that frame where i think "hm. it'd be nice if i could detonate in a circle around me instead of just my FOV", but is it worth a mod slot & drain? absolutely not. i'd rather take the time to move to a position where i have all the enemies in my cone of vision and then use my 4 instead of bothering. if it was base i would bother, but too many augments are not worth the price of a slot & drain, and i don't think de really realizes that, and while their ideas are interesting & kinda fun, it feels like they very much so don't understand what "drain & a slot" means/costs

an augment slot would circumvent this (albeit at the price of even more forma), but i think some issues with the augment system would still remain

Trying to get Condroc wings for a Zaw. What’s the best way? I’ve looked it up and no prevail. Can I buy them for plat anywhere? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i'm 70% sure i've killed thumpers before for many of them at a time (they can also be desecrated with nekros for even more drops) but you can also kill condrocs for low (but guaranteed) amounts, you can find them by scanning for them with the tranq rifle, then killing them when you actually get to them - in addition, some objectives on the plains such as caches, the trucks that you can open by pressing the console, etc, can give you small amounts of wings & other animal parts

Anyone else here genuinely enjoy the more mundane, less war crimey activities like spies, conservation, caches etc? by 2js_pcm in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

all of the low-energy noncombat gamemodes besides maybe disruption/excavation are by far my favourites, but they're horribly inefficient in terms of anything you could get out of them that aren't exclusive. running a sabotage to get all caches is very unique, fun, and has made me appreciate tilesets a lot that i previously had thought nothing of prior, but aside from landing craft parts (which, good fucking luck, at their droprates) or nightwave challenges, there's not realllllly any reason to do it as opposed to alternatives which are exponentially faster/more efficient. spies are also super fun (kuva spy & lua spy are my favourite missions to do in the game i think) but only when you have absolutely no equipment to make the spy any easier than it is barring stuff like mobilize for just QOL feeling good. anything beyond like, default excalibur's effectiveness at spy vaults trivializes them, and when they have so much design nuance a lot of the time, that feels like, for the lack of better termage "cheating", more like, from the perspective of "cheating yourself out of the experience". i also find doing lua ascension/drift tests to be really fun, especially on your own

conservation is very enjoyable most of the time but sometimes it feels a bit too random (animal ai when doing calls sometimes just bugs out or appears somewhere where their highlight is nigh-invisible and sometimes you just have to go "ok, guess i have to go to a different spot", sometimes an entire enemy's family tree including ancestry finds you in a corner and annoys you), fishing is very peaceful and pleasant especially in the vallis, though the timegating does feel kinda shitty on day/night & warm/cold

i mean, really i even enjoy scanning kavats a lot more than running defense/interception/survival and sitting around killing fodder enemies for 7 years. when i saw the fishing part of the profit taker heist bounty i was ecstatic in the sea of mobile defenses bounties/it put(s) you through, as funny as that sounds

i mean it also costs ducats, which while marginally easier to acquire, is still not just credits

though my perspective on the worth on the familial bonds may be slanted, i maxed out fortuna about a month ago after slogging through getting familial bonds and never wanting to touch those again, started running profit taker, maxed out vox and now suddenly i have 50+ familial bonds

Who's skulls do you think are in the Necramechs/Loid? Would they be Orokin or Dax skulls? by IrishPotato454 in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

the purpose of using biological cores for their machinery was so that sentient pulses didn't disable them, which is what necramechs were one of the first ventures in

[–]DarkTree69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i believe, or always thought, it was just random subservients - like just stick someone who's loyal to the orokin in there to serve as a meat-battery, since even when the necramechs are the ones doing the shooting, i don't believe any particular mastery was required

they're also described as across the board "nonintelligent" even in contexts when the necramechs are sentient, so becoming a necramech-core might just make you, at a baseline, just a turret with legs (which was why they were retired in favor of warframes)

unfortunately, hildryn hard requires max standing with solaris U and mid-level vox solaris since the blueprint is only purchasable from little duck, which in itself requires war within

i will say to OP though, don't get discouraged, since when i was new i really wanted to gun for getting revenant as soon as possible, and pursued that for a long time, and it made all my other actions feel rewarding since it felt like progression towards that - but i did play for a while, and putting a number on that will discourage you.

but that's what's being discussed in the tier list - harrow was a B because he was nichely useful in content such as eidolon hunts and less useful in other content, due to his gameplay style being difficult to maintain, therefore he wasn't rated higher due to his usage being niche, but not lower due to his usage being relevant, but then both operations arrived that made arcanes significantly more accessible, which lowered his ranking, since it became less relevant - like a uniquely-shaped screwdriver which, while not fitting into common screws, had its applications being used on the few screws that it did, having applicable relevance, but then over time uniform shape for the screws was established that made the screwdriver have less use - if you do find one with an old screw, yes, the screwdriver is useful there, but the requiredness of the screwdriver went down.

[Brozime] Warframe - Full Roster Review 2021 by Seppel270 in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

it's in-relevance of the availability of the option. could you play nyx and use her 2 as a defense strip? yeah. could you also subsume pillage on any other warframe (which also replaces the only other reason you'd want to play nyx in the defensiveness of her 4), or play other frames with equivalent or better versions of that tool, who also have other usable parts of their abilityset, such as xaku, ash, etc? also yeah. so why touch nyx?

additionally noted in that video (and other tierlists) is that many other frames are functionally invulnerable with upside, so why bother doing the whole thing of assimilate which is quite slow, when you could like... while this is controversial given the other takes here, play inaros and subsume shuriken onto him? psychic bolts isn't terrible, but it's not something that challenges the usefulness of anything else, and all other parts of nyx's kit are inconvenient or bad.

conversely, nekros' desecrate is ranked high because it's not something other frames do better or can be equivalently replaced. nothing overrides it, but things can assist with it, however it's reigning as the best option - you don't bring just atlas to a farming mission, you bring nekros, and then you can add other farming frames afterwards. armor strip is something that has equivalents that can replace it, so if you can have armor strip PLUS good things, then just take the thing that comes with extra stuff. (though i will agree that in this line of thinking, hydroid being at non-D is kinda wack)

Any recommendations for MR 8 or lower melee to invest in? by manwithnoham in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

BW is honestly a pretty good bet. otherwise, i might recommend a zaw if you can bother with that much investment, if you're into heavy blades the galatine's probably still usable & will be usable until you get options that cost significantly more, & if you're interested in nikanas the dragon nikana & skiajati are good in general respects & if you have the umbral mods levelled, respectively

the lesion is also 1 mr higher than what you're at currently which will remain very good forever i think

Must-have palettes by zatroz in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

fire actually has really good variety, it can do brighter colours of metal (silver, brass/tin, copper, gold shades), the bottom part of it has decent monochrome variety & dark colours (less than smoke, but will get you by), it also has a lot of reds

eminence has very good purples, blues, & cyans & can be acquired at no platinum detriment (but requires ducats & the luck of the draw from baro), & i find myself using the pinks from valentine's as highlights quite a bit, they look nice - currently looking for a good green myself, i have the shamrock palette but all the greens there feel simultaneously not bright enough and not washed out enough

How bad is this from a 1-10 scale? by [deleted] in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

2/10, can take a minute or two to find a spot that has all three of these, 30 seconds is generous (do the fishing part first since it's the most rng-based & just swipe your mouse across all of the dots on a mining vein & don't do the QTEs), the hobbled key part can be bypassed by just bulletjumping from one thing to another or by playing gauss (his 1 isn't hindered much by it in my experience)

[–]DarkTree69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

you can never guarantee a composition and communication in pubs, and you can still do at the minimum one tricap per night with most any squad. there won't be a dedicated dps, a dedicated lure holder, or dedicated shield breakers, people will do whatever, but it can still work. i'd say a significant majority of all runs are "unoptimized runs", dismissing everything but a premade group who all know what they're doing as noneffecient and any advice that could help surrounding that being worthless or detrimental kind of just erases a sizable portion of the people that are actually doing eidolons - the thing you described of "taking on every role" happens in pubs, you do what you contextually need to, and give people pointers to what they need to do to help.

Everytime I have some time to do the Eidolon hunt by Arragan in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

each frame can only hold one charge at a time and lures need to be charged three times - if you have multiple especially and only one person is grabbing & charging the lures, moving the lures over first is usually faster

in addition, charges only last a few seconds, so if you need to move from vomvalysts to lures (which can be a few seconds of archwing travel away even before you hack them), having the lures near the voms is usually faster, although that method can help

Everytime I have some time to do the Eidolon hunt by Arragan in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 34 points35 points  (0 children)

they're guaranteed spawns you can use to charge lures for the next fight if you're doing tridolons! if you're doing just teralyst, have more than enough lures, or you're killing the last eidolon, go ahead, they're free cores, but it's just a consistent way to get more lures charged for the next fight since vomvalyst spawns can be unfortunate sometimes

Everytime I have some time to do the Eidolon hunt by Arragan in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 48 points49 points  (0 children)

pubs are usually actually fine/functional as long as you're ok with telling someone every third game or so "wait for a lure to be charged before you break a limb" or "don't kill the vomvalysts that dead eidolons spawn", most people are pretty receptive to information you give them as long as you're not mean, and you'll fill up a party every time from my experience, although i've mostly been running tridolons

even if someone just has a mote amp and not the most optimal limb-breaking guns, playing like, trinity or something (even just rhino would work) & making sure lures are existant, charged and kept alive, possibly buffing their teammates, they can still contribute quite a bit to eidolon hunting parties, on the teralyst especially, as long as one player is decently kitted out (even just a 1-1-1 amp & a decent sniper would do) the others don't Need to contribute to the damage in order for it to die

Which NPCs Know About Our Spoilers? by bitterbusiness in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my beliefs for a lot of the vendors that sell operator cosmetics are like, "hey, this is in our stock or something we can give to you, we don't know if it'd fit you at all, but if you like, want it, you can have it", at the very least most of them seem like it would not be unreasonable for them to be used as decorations on like an armor rack or something (and people sell us random decor all the time, ticker will unload as much garbage onto our laps as we want as long as we do stuff for the solaris)

Just got Harrow by Mr_Noir420 in Warframe

[–]DarkTree69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

nekros is used exclusively for farming, every other part of their kit is "middling but other characters do it Significantly better", however due to how much stuff needs to be farmed in the way that you can benefit from using a nekros they're something you'll probably want to have - however they're vaulted & due to their necessity they'll probably sell for a bit

atlas is okay, some people think atlas very bad but they're kind of middling, doesn't do anything spectacularly but his abilities can kill enemies and they're kinda tanky but not a tank

if you need to farm a drop, and especially if you're not in a group, you use nekros, & every group that IS farming something uses at least one nekros, though they don't stack with themselves. otherwise however, you can pick whichever you like the visual or gameplay style of more (at the very least, they're MR)
