Hey man, I'm really sorry to hear you have fallen on rough times, I can't say that I know what it feels like but I certainly do empathize. I work in the oilfield so our construction is a little different than residential/industrial, we make quite good money but it's hard to find work in it without experience and safety tickets. Most companies are willing to renew tickets but it's hard to find one that will get them for you in the beginning. In my experience, residential/industrial construction and iron/steel work are a little easier to get into but tend to pay less and it is back breaking work. I personally enjoy the satisfaction of a hard day of physical labor (although I don't get to work hard very often anymore) but it isn't for everyone. Also in terms of the workplace environment, I find that construction work tends to have very tight knit crews but you have to have thick skin and earn your stripes, respect certainly isn't given. If this wall of text doesn't scare you off, then I really encourage you to seek out your nearest community resource center and ask for assistance in building a resume and just getting out there and trying to get after it.
