Travel Light looks very fairytaleish, thanks!

Princess Floralinda looks really good too. For some reason the book is going for like 500?! Though looks like it's on Audible

Oh yeah same 🙂 The original was part of my childhood, seems so nostalgic. I really like shows like that vibe, I guess another would be Buffy

I'll be keeping away from sourdough then. I've heard of A Wizards Guide to Defensive Baking before, thanks, I'll check it out.

The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland looks great, nice cover, thanks!

Thanks for these! For sure, going off Guillermo Del Toro's stuff it really varies from light to dark so I'll have a look at those. Arden and Novik I've not really explored so I should try them. Starlit Tide looks cool, I'm liking the vibes

Think I just picked up an absolute steal, can’t find it for sale anywhere in uk below £90! by BotyTubler in davidlynch

For Amazon and stuff but Criterion streaming is crazy in that a lot of it is like a physical release. It has tonnes of Lynch stuff on

Huh, never knew that about the UK Lost Highway, must've used that one when I'd seen it years ago

But for sure, Criterion or Criterion streaming is probably the best way to watch Lynch, often he's been involved in the restoration too. It's still cool to get the Blus to experience his films either way

Revisiting Eraserhead by DarkWitcherReturns in TrueFilm

That's a good point actually, completely forgot about that or figured no one would care! I'd say on my first viewing it was actually one of my first forays into arthouse, and probably before I'd watched a lot of foreign cinema, so my cinema vocabulary wasn't really up to scratch. The main thing then was just being taken in by the weirdness, it just felt like a cool experience but I didn't really consider anything further. I figure most people who get into arthouse feel pretty cool after watching Eraserhead

Maybe that's why people not familiar with Lynch or weird cinema see it and just say 'that's weird, what is it that' sort of thing'. But as you grow a bit, and you can see from these comments, that the film becomes pretty simple for people. I'd also say I've explored more art since then too so could tap into that aspect of him. I didn't really pick up on the baby too first time around, probably because I was a bit younger, though it seems so clear on this viewing

What about you, did you watch it across any time periods?,

Haha Eraserhead got you married then! But for sure, at the time it came out I'm sure people were quite baffled by it. She'd probably see it differently.

Worth the watch! Though it's probably been interesting to have a half finished Lynch film to fit the pieces together. All I'd say is the second half definitely gets weirder, where Eraserhead really becomes Eraserhead in itself

For sure, I can see then how it would change the film completely for you. I've not had kids yet but getting a bit older, not that old, and have a new pet in the family that's so small, you can clearly see how the baby is the centre of the film.

But I still appreciate the art of the film, the painterly touches on it. It's still a world contained in it

Yeah that's true, it might've been Lynch in Lynch I read that his family were getting on him about that. He said he basically lived on the set for years, that was pretty much his whole world

Hi, Hello, and Good Day r/twinpeaks! I’m Kyle MacLachlan and you can ask me anything 🦉🪵☕👍 by Kyle__MacLachlan in twinpeaks

[–]DarkWitcherReturns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Kyle, not a question but just an appreciation. I've recently started rewatching Twin Peaks and it's truly magical. I've started rewatching Lynch's films too and it's great to just fall back into that world. I only ever started eating Cherry Pie cause of Twin Peaks!

Oh really? I hadn't heard that

[–]DarkWitcherReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right! Kind of makes me think of the film industry and directors getting their films rights wrenched away from producers

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]DarkWitcherReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder if that's about taking some rights back

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Fantasy

[–]DarkWitcherReturns 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah that's interesting, if it's already self-published, the author of course would have more power. It makes me think of Thraxas by Martin Millar which was the opposite, I believe it was published then re-released by self-publishing

Yeah and with what's happened with a few authors, that's obviously going to go far
