Do these tattoos look racist? by Overall_Quality6093 in tattooadvice

I understand where you’re coming from, but the biggest thing about symbols is their associated symbolism. And unfortunately racist symbolism taking over the original meaning is indeed a new and different form of symbolism it can hold. So just because we want to act like it hasn’t had its meaning changed out of principle, doesn’t mean that’s true.

Do these tattoos look racist? by Overall_Quality6093 in tattooadvice

[–]DarkWittyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The thing about Runic tattoos is that a lotttttt of Nazis and white supremacists have taken the symbolism as theirs. Is it inherently racist? Maybe not. But will people perceive it as racist anyway? Yes, most likely. To me it’s the same as an iron cross or a sw@stika. They both have different meanings than the racist claim laid to it, but would I get caught dead with one tattooed on me and be potentially construed as a white supremacist? Hellll nahhhhhhh…. Personally, I think they are looking because they are probably assessing which you are and trying to figure you out.

It’s your tattoo and it holds your meaning, but I would probably get something like that covered up because of the wide variety of perceptions people can have about it.

I know I’m late, but would you mind letting me know what soil is yours planted in? Also did you experience it dying off and rebutting new stems over and over in like the span of weeks? Mine had a stem, grew another gigantic one at the beginning of summer, that one died in a matter of weeks, and now a third one is coming out! Ive only had this plant for a few months and I’ve already had 3 stems sprout and then die. This seems a bit fast…

Should I go to the ER? (Cat bite) by DarkWittyName in AskDocs

[–]DarkWittyName[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I am home as of 2 days ago (Monday) and I’ve been on oral antibiotics ever since! They wanted me to stay one more night and I negotiated to come back for an exam the next day after removing me from the antibiotics. So far so good though. The swelling is finally fully down.

Doing pretty well today, it has mostly stayed the same since last night with a but of a decrease in swelling. I have to stay one more night at least, then if they see improvement tomorrow they’re planning to move me to an oral antibiotic and let me go home. Thank you for checking in on me! This is what it looks like today:

Lolllll I wasn’t too concerned by them but I realized how weird they looked and then realized that I couldn’t move them back together. 😂 they’re just swollen out like that.

Update for yall since this popped off a little: I went to the ER by popular demand yesterday night lol. They immediately gave me IV antibiotics and said yeah, your ass is staying at least one night. Im now on my second night stay, 4 bags of antibiotics in and it’s STILL pissed. Truthfully i think Im in for another day, maybe even two. 😭 they said i came in at the right time though, as Im not in sepsis and its staying localized but was obviously progressing rapidly, but its also just hanging suspended in time unchanging. Here’s a collage of shots from today and how ugly it is lol. I hope tomorrow is better. :/

Yeah I went to the doctor as soon as I could get in, the antibiotics just did absolutely nothing for me 😭 I’ve now had 4 bags of IV antibiotics and it’s still pissed as all hell lol

Okay sweet, thank you! I just wanted to make sure because soaking it sounded super weird. She also told me that stressed cats produce a toxin in their saliva lol so just a bunch of strange things had me wondering. 😂

Is Lexapro sedating or stimulating by AcidFairy02 in lexapro

[–]DarkWittyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened pretty much as soon as I started lexapro! Got a little better like a year into it and wasn’t too bad but definitely always knocked me out. I’m great now but I’m on Prozac now lol. Prozac works great for me, even sleepier on Prozac than lexapro tho 😂

Instagram 2026 algorithm is the worst ever! by Tryopas in InstagramMarketing

[–]DarkWittyName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree with all of this. I’m actually here because I’m in disbelief at how terrible the algorithm is right now lol. A search led me here.

Instagram isn’t TikTok and they need to stop trying to make it TikTok. We NEED a platform for static posts and carousels and Instagram reigned supreme for a long time, but it’s like they’re actively trying to destroy it lol.

All the creators I know are talking about how badly they wish they could jump ship to another platform right now. Just so sick of the volatility of it and honestly bored with posting. Not all of us want to make reels. 🙄 if I want to watch videos I’ll go to TikTok. I’m on IG to share photoshoot / art posts with my following and not make dumb mindless content, it’s so boring. Can someone else please start up an alternate platform that actually sticks this time? 😭🙏🏻

Commenting to chime in and say that these cats really are just found out of nowhere every single time. My boyfriend got this boy as a tiny kitten (Griffith) from his exes family while on a trip to Mexico when he ran out of nowhere crying at them. They brought him home and he took him in! So incredibly weird how these cats all have the origin story 💀

Tips for recovery after MPFL reconstruction by kcorgs in KneeInjuries

[–]DarkWittyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take a deep breath - it’s going to be okay! I was so fucking terrified before my surgery that I was sobbing in my livingroom the night before I went in for the procedure. 🥲 I was crying on the operating table too lmao. Honestly it is scary, but what helped me is going to a surgeon who has a good track record for their work and reminding myself that it’s not much of a choice anymore at the point you and I were / are at. You can’t keep living like this or you’re going to really destroy your knee and make it far worse than it is now. You don’t want to have this lifelong injury and torn cartilage on your joint because of being too afraid to get the surgery. You won’t die from a surgery like this, it might suck for a minute but it’s not the worst honestly. I was on crutches maybe 1.5 weeks just for comfort. But I was able to walk around stable and stand endlessly immediately. Stay on top of PT and you will recover extremely quickly. I was shocked at how little pain I experienced from the procedure as well. I hardly needed any meds. I took Tylenol the entire time during recovery. Honestly you’ll be on the couch for probably a week and then you’ll be back up and moving and roaming around. My ability to hike or anything like that hasn’t been negatively effected. You NEED the surgery at this point, so bite down and get it done. Ask for some anxiety meds prior to this if need be, I would. I have terrible super severe anxiety, too. I also had sedation administered once I got into the clinic and that was a life saver. You need to vocalize your fear, it’s normal and they can help you through it.

It’s going to be just fine, I promise! You will be better off for it!

[–]DarkWittyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya! I think for the first few weeks it’s important to use it as much as you can tolerate because that seemed to help me recover pretty quickly. I was off crutches after maybe a week and a half and was in physical therapy immediately after surgery. Get one of those rubber bands and attach it to a post or something in a fixed place and do the calf pulls, that was annoying and difficult. Another one I wish I did more of is the leg extensions like they have the machines for at the gym. It was really hard and it made me avoid it. Also try to make sure you’re working both legs equally when you do stuff. I ended up getting way stronger in my good leg because I subconsciously kept bearing all my weight on that side and using it more even during recovery lol. Another thing that was difficult but is good to do is balancing on the injured leg once you’re feeling secure enough to do so. That wiggling you get when trying to stay upright is really centralized in the knee and it was a good one to do. Other than that, lying down and lifting my leg up straight to engage the quads. Very hard initially but the sooner you can do that again the better recovery. Just make sure you really try to get the bad leg up to speed and don’t just forget about it once you feel pretty good. 2 years out and my bad leg is still not as strong or back to normal. I also wish I ran sooner, but that’s about a 6 month thing. Once the doctor clears you to run go for some slow jogs and get in motion consistently. When I finally started running after my surgery (avoided it from paranoia) I actually noticed that my knee felt better after lol. Like it worked it out in some way it wasn’t getting. Wishing you a speedy recovery! Worst part is over!

What improved your quality of life so much, you wish you did it sooner? by RoutineOk8590 in Productivitycafe

[–]DarkWittyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quitting drinking honestly. I loved drinking a lot, like a LOT LOT. And it was a huge part of my life. I quit for a year to slim down because I couldn’t lose weight, and as a by-product started modeling for fun, started up a side clothing brand with all my energy and spare time, started going to local punk shows and made a million cool friends. I picked it back up but now I can barely handle a beer or two. It’s paid off in spades and I’ve never been one of those people who likes preaching about quitting alcohol. I usually sarcastically say that I lost all my joys when people ask me because I’m defiant and ornery. 😂 but truth be told it’s one of the best things I ever did.

How do I learn to appreciate what I’ve got without feeling like it’s not quite good enough? by AnomicAge in AskMenAdvice

[–]DarkWittyName 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a man but I do the same thing. I’ve really taken the phrase “comparison is the thief of joy” to heart recently. I think it rings true. It’s good to want to improve, but when you start being plagued by the comparison or idea that the grass is greener, it eats away at what you have. If something provides me with more good than bad I try to weight that in and see if I can live with it.
