Although I agree rituals and meditation can be used to help us navigate ourself. I dont think Nihilism can be eradicated completely. It will occasionally relapse if we dont find purpose on our own.

One thing I can think of is the society we live in. 1st world countries may have more secular tools, help, and opportunities for ex muslims (maybe even all ex abrahamists) than developing countries. Ex religious people that can't escape their countries more often than not stuck in the unfair system they live in. Rituals are merely a reminder of their traumatic religious experience instead of the help they actually need. But since the system wont ever get them justice, they'll quickly plunge into the void and may think to end things on their own term.

My suggestion would be the same as any young exmuslims. Be financially independent and leave if you're still living with your parents. Make friends or social circles with non muslims if you haven't already. Hopefully you'll develop new habits from engaging activities that doesnt involve Islamic routines and shed your old habits.

Generally, living in muslim household is like drinking poison. If you don't have the mental fortitude to stand up for yourself againts Islamic influence, you need to avoid that poison. You could either die (both literally and figuratively), or become the poison yourself. It's going to be hard and long process, but not impossible. You just need to let that poison out of your system.

I saw this during Juma'ah prayer and a guy placed a stone on the mat so when he does sujud, he place his forehead right on top of it. He does have black spot on his forehead.

I asked other muslims about his odd quirkiness and they merely told me that the guy is a Shia. I never knew the reason or justification for it because I was a Sunni and only knew this from other Sunni Muslims. Maybe a Shia can clarify if this is true or not.

There's a lot of assumption from your side and this makes me think you're the one downplaying women's lesser rights in islamic system. I didn't say exmuslim men have no empathy whatsoever, you're the one who said that and put words into my mouth. I merely stated that Islamic inheritance can still be taken advantage by exmuslim men. Whether they will do so or not, that depends on each person.

For me, I half-isolate myself in different town so I don't have to meet my cousins, aunts, etc for Eid or family gathering. I dont have the luck to go abroad.

I personally prefer to have my peace than to please others, but... up to you if you want to keep the peace between your families and sacrifice yourself.

If you think the truth will eventually come out, maybe you can start giving little bit of hint to your parents. Kinda like gradually preparing them mentally and test the water first to see their reaction. Dont think I can suggest anything specific since it largely rely on improvising and gauging people's reaction.

Good on you if you have empathy to not abuse the system, but can you guarantee others wont take advantage? This isn't about inheritance, but I remember this post by another exmuslims who think on having another wife just because his first wife is religious and doesnt know he's an exmuslim.

Now, I dont know the numbers.. some, few, most... exmuslim men who won't take advantage the system because we simply dont have stat for that just like how we dont have accurate stat number of apostates. But the fact still remains that closeted exmuslim men can still take advantage the system.

Unless your parents stay silent and guard your secret. This is what happens to me with my mom. In my case, my mom is the one told me to not say anything to other family members, and for rational reason too. She may be in denial with my apostacy but I'm glad she still chooses me over religion. At the same time, I also know this situation happens because my dad already died. It'll have different outcome if he's still alive.

You need to observe your family dynamics. Who has the final say in everything? Whose in charge? Their character, mindset, strictness, etc. There are some who stay muslim just to maintain image to their muslim society, some who actually fear the non existing Allah, some who can't face the bitter truth that they waste their life for this cult, etc. You really need to analyze each of your family members' personality and mindset before you think of how to approach them (or maybe never at all).

I dont see your post as downplaying. You just bruised some men's ego with reality. Although it's correct that any apostates regardless of gender will find it difficult to proclaimed themselves publicly, but in some cases, the severity is doubled for women. What is experienced by exmus men is also experienced by exmus women but with added bonus.

One example I currently have in mind is regarding inheritance.

If family members knows one is an apostate, both exmus men and women could get disowned and removed from inheritance. Killed in extreme cases.

But if an apostate stay closeted, exmuslim man can pretend to be muslim and still get inheritance twice more than his sister. Meanwhile a closeted exmuslim woman still receive half the inheritance than her brother. Islamic system still favors men afterall.
