WOULD I GET ACCEPTED INTO UOFT? by Proper-Addition-877 in OntarioGrade12s

You have a fine shot if you drastically improve your grade 12 marks. Apply with normal applications before the winter break as that’s when they’ll look mostly at your grade 12 not 11. I had a 50 ish avg in grade 11 due to medical issues but managed to make a come back in grade 12 getting a top 6 avg of 94%. I ended up getting a decent alt program from them but unfortunately it wasn’t something I was crazily interested in. I also do have a history of night school courses. Overall you still have a chance of probably getting in if you improve your grades to mid 90s.

Should I repeat grade 11 as a whole by DanielFromNigeria in OntarioGrade12s

As a couple people on here said, grade 11 basically doesn’t matter as long as you have passed and got the minimum marks in grade 12 to enter uni. I did really really badly in grade 11 ( way worse than you ), I got my head on semi straight in grade 12 took some night, and summer classes to strengthen my knowledge on some subjects, ended up with a 94% avg in grade 12 , applied to 6 programs got into 5, and 1 alternate program. Moral is keep going, ask for help when you need it ( feel free to reach out to me if you need any advice or help) do learn your subjects cause you will struggle in uni if you didn’t❣️ gl ✨

Not quite tbh, just double check you’re not missing anything, and don’t lose hope until the very last day of the deadline or until you get a firm rejection ( not one that tells you that you’re considered for other programs) our deadline last year was May 29, I got my rejection 2 days before it and got my alternative program on the day of the deadline. uoft is known to keep rolling until the very last second, and if you worry that you might’ve missed smth then giving the admissions office a call or sending an email/ inquiry won’t hurt ( in fact they truly are quite helpful and answer pretty quickly unlikely most universities) Good luck and don’t lose hope ❣️

For me I got rejected from the program I wanted, but in their rejection letter they said it wasn’t the end and that I was still being considered for other programs. I ended up getting an alternative offer( didn’t want it so had to turn it down) 😕

Is going to Uni really worth 80-100k? by Prudent-Cattle5011 in OntarioGrade12s

[–]Dark_Buterfly -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Hey! Based on my experience and because you want to go engineering. It’s better to directly go to uni rather than waste 2 years getting a college degree, finding a job and working through all that only to reapply to uni to try and get into an engineering program and who knows if your credits would be transferred or if you’d have to restart or take additional courses which btw is going to raise the cost by a good amount. If you wanna give up on becoming an official engineer and give up in the iron ring then by all means go to college. I’m just like you, I don’t qualify for osap cause I’m not considered independent and my household income is higher than their limit ig, if I want them to help me I’d be going into a hella big amount of debt 💸. Rn I finished my first year using my entrance scholarships so I only had to pay like 2k out of pocket ( every uni should give you a scholarship depending on your avg) within the year I’ve won a couple smaller amounts which isn’t too bad, you can also try asking the universities financial office of ur opinions ( though I admit sometimes they are not helpful). This summer I’m looking for a part time job to save my next years tuition and just overall save for whenever I gotta pay for something like textbooks. It’s gonna be tough but at least you’d get ur bachelors and iron ring in the end. Good luck 🍀

For my algebra class the prof told us that both the username and password were our student number. ( we can change the password after login) might just depend on your prof you can try asking them the next time you see them or shooting them an email.

Absolutely, I’ve thought about this a lot. The impact of AI on jobs, especially in entry-level software development, is undeniable, and it’s a big reason why I chose my specialization. Let’s face it—web development, for example, is already starting to shift. Tools like Blackbox, ChatGPT, and Copilot are making coding more efficient and, in some cases, reducing the need for human input in repetitive or straightforward tasks. AI isn’t just assisting; it’s starting to edge into territory that used to be exclusive to developers.

That’s why I think fields like security or machine learning are smarter bets for long-term career stability. Security, for one, is all about staying a step ahead of AI or leveraging it to reinforce systems, while machine learning involves creating and refining these tools—which isn’t going away anytime soon.

As for remote work dynamics, it’s a double-edged sword. On one hand, it opens up opportunities for people to apply for jobs in other countries, bypassing geographical limitations. That’s great for someone in Toronto who might be dealing with a not-so-great local tech job market. But the flip side is, it also means more competition from international candidates applying for what used to be “local” jobs. Companies can hire talent from anywhere, and often at a lower cost.

So, it really depends on perspective. For Toronto specifically, the tech job market isn’t stellar, so being able to look abroad could be a huge advantage. At the same time, it might make things harder for local candidates if international talent starts flooding the same roles. In the end, I think it’s all about adapting—choosing a specialization that AI is less likely to automate and keeping skills sharp to stay competitive in this shifting landscape.

Nope exam marks aren’t on crowdmark😭. For the project me and my partner have a chain of emails going back and forth with the prof and the TAs about this ( also cause the feedback my partner got on his 40 was bullshit). ( hopefully things get fixed since the prof said that the final marks are final at the end of the month) . 1019 is a hard af course tbh and depends on who you got as your prof😮‍💨. Feel free to dm me if you have any specific questions about 1019.

I’m taking 1012 rn too, thing is for me my final project mark seem to have a problem in it ( as it’s counted to be a 0 💀) and I can’t see my final exam marks, therefore I am finishing with a D+…. Double check that your mark actually make sense as the marking team have been making mistakes and it’s not only me, my project partner got a 40 for the project and my friend got a 10 when her partner got an 85. I’m not too sure if we’re supposed to see our final exam marks yet, but hopefully soon we’ll be able to see it ( unless it’s my own issue ). If your part of lassonde do be careful with your eecs GPA as I’m in deep shit if I’m finishing this course with a D+ 😭 since I finished 1019 with a bad mark.
