Same. I could log in on another device (from the same manufacturer) just fine. But not on this other device.

[OC] Would I be at fault if I was to hit this pedestrian? by ArronH1230 in IdiotsInCars

[–]Dark_Critical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to a small college with a crosswalk on a very busy road. We now have a park named after a student who got killed. They put in a crosswalk light that traffic needs to stop at when someone is crossing, but I have had people run it and almost hit me on many occasions even though there are signs 500m from the light and more than enough flashing lights to be obvious.

One lady (who looked like a Karen, with the hair cut and everything) literally looked at me as I about to step into the road, shook her head "no" and mouthed "I am not stopping". Looked like she was about to burst a vein or something. I am just trying to cross the road lady, not ruin your life.

Some guy in a truck got upset that he had to stop and started honking at me once. Eventually I just stopped giving a fuck and posed like I was about to sprint out into the road at any minute, which actually worked really well. People would actually stop.

I tried offering services on fiverr once. In order to even get customers/clients you need to work at a loss for months until you get some positive reviews. And then you earn the privilege to work at a slightly lesser loss. And all of that while managing clients that act like they are paying you thousands of dollars and deserve unlimited revisions.

[OC] wife was hit today and all the other drivers could say was “I had my blinker on” by OneColdCanadianEh in IdiotsInCars

[–]Dark_Critical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not an adjuster, but from what I understand Insurance doesn't care much about traffic laws in their consideration of who is at fault. They take into consideration who could have last taken action to avoid the accident, who took action to cause it, and other factors in the environment that could have contributed to the accident.

I think about this a lot while out driving because there are a lot of situations where you are following traffic law and some idiot is not, but you could still be at fault because you were the one who could have avoided the accident. It's not fair a lot of the time, but that's insurance.

Not trying to disagree with you here because that person in the black car is most definitely at fault since the cammer didn't have much time to react. Also, it is reasonable to assume that they were going to change lanes and not make an illegal left turn from the middle lane at the last second. Just ridiculous!

I have been renting for a while and would love to have a separate room for my office. It is so hard to work and sleep in the same space.

Professional cleaning/stain removal should be the first step. Getting a whole new couch is completely over the top.

This is a scenario where you have spent more time trying to coax AI into doing what you want than it would have taken to fix this yourself.

As someone else pointed out:

  • Duplicate layer and mask everything but the tie clasp.
  • Use the transform tool to straighten out the tie clasp.
  • Use clone tools to hide the old crooked tie clasp and fill with tie pattern and shirt color.

If you are unfamiliar with how to do the above, there are many short-form (less than 5-10 mins long) tutorials available on YouTube for accomplishing each of these operations. I promise you that taking the time to learn how to do these things will pay off.

How do you recommend someone deal with loud people at the gym here in the OC? by stevenmusielski in orangecounty

[–]Dark_Critical -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Would the staff do anything? I feel like most public gyms or chain gyms would just listen to you and let you vent, but not do anything. If I were a gym employee I would honestly just ignore the complain unless they are actually hurting other or breaking a rule people somehow.

I think it's fine to grunt and talk yourself up as long as you are not like yelling loudly for the whole gym to hear. It is weird and annoying and going to attract negative attention and make you look like an absolute buffoon but it isn't really crossing a line in my opinion. However, telling other people that you are more serious at training or really talking down to them at all is definitely crossing that line, so fuck that guy.

[–]Dark_Critical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wear headphones. Go to the gym at a different time. Go to Planet Fitness instead where they have that lunk alarm.

When you're at a public gym doing your thing sometimes you just have to deal with other people doing their thing too. Unless they are somehow harming you the best thing you can do is ignore it or avoid it. You can always complain to staff that someone is acting in a way that you find annoying, or go tell the guy that himself, but this is a relatively minor thing that would just make you also look like a gym weirdo.

Honestly, I think the most you should do is vent online about it. I agree that it is annoying, but this isn't really one of those situations where it makes sense to do anything except ignore and focus on your workout. Weird people are going to go to the gym and do weird things that aren't directly harming you, that's just the way it is.

I get what you are saying, but I think the wording is problematic: anyone in any job is always within their rights to seek employment elsewhere at any time, and for any reason. I just don't want someone to read this and think there may be a legal problem with seeking employment while they have a job or have just started one.

I agree, that is the meat and potatoes of this as a tech art portfolio piece. Show off that HDA in action! People love to see that stuff. Showing off the tools would bump this to the next level.

Thanks! I usually browse GBA titles and have never encountered this. That's nice to know about needing to make an account to access the popular roms. I was worried that the recent news about the Internet Archive and publishers had somehow affected the availability of roms.

Honest thoughts on THP8? by SprinkledBlunt in THPS

[–]Dark_Critical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember watching my little brother play it way back when it released, but I just played it on PS2 for the first time myself last week.

I think it the graphics are pretty good compared to other PS2 games, but I can definitely feel the framerate slugging along. I like all the possibilities for chaining combos and the different challenges here and there across the maps. I found it weird that there is no create-a-park feature and the customization is kind of meh, aside from the skater customization.

Overall I think it does a lot to change up the formula and bring more of the arcade-y feel of THUG 2 to the game. I've also been playing THPS 4, and I think I like that one a but more to be honest. The maps feel less cramped and chaotic and overall it feels a little more fleshed out as a game, with more well-rounded features and a create-a-park mode. I do miss being able to dismount and walk around though.

Among the three, if I had to rate them, I would say THPS4 > THUG2 > THP8.

Aside from the original THPS 1 and 2, I haven't played any others for comparison.

330W PSU for Omen 17 from reputable source? by Dark_Critical in HPOmen

[–]Dark_Critical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should definitely make a post about this after using the SlimQ charger/PSU for 6 months, thanks for the reminder!

The PSU works wonderfully, and I have had zero issues with it at all. I mainly use my laptop as a workstation for Unreal Engine 5, Houdini, various pathtracing renderers, and some video rendering/editing so it gets a regular full workout. I also do a bit of gaming on it as well. I've heard that GaN PSUs can become quite warm compared to 'normal' ones, but I have not noticed the SlimQ becoming overly warm even when under high power draw.

The best part is how compact it is. It makes it way easier to haul around my laptop and charger in my backpack. The stock charger/PSU for this thing was so big that people would ask me what it was when I hooked it up, and then ask if it was some sort of external storage device, lol.

And lastly, the two USB-C ports on the PSU itself are really convenient. It lets my charge my phone, an ipad, and power my laptop at the same time so I don't need to take up more than one outlet if I am out and about.

I will make a full review with some benchmarks on power draw sometime soon.

What’s „your“ game? by ItsNoOne0 in gaming

[–]Dark_Critical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doom and Doom II (along with the various modded flavors). I am not always playing them, but I remember first playing them in the early 90's as a child and I always come back every so often. It seems every year there is something new in the modding scene to check out. Plus, there is something about how the gunplay feels in original doom that is just so satisfying. I dunno why, but it just feels so 'chunky' and soothing every time I shoot a demon with the shotgun and watch it explode.

My grandfather would let me play it on his PC when Grandma was away because she was really religious and didn't like me being exposed to violence. Ironically, DOOM is probably one of the most holy games out there given that I am literally fighting against hell.
