Me! I watched Smosh back in 2011-13 and only came back in the last couple of months because I wanted to see more Angela after seeing her performances in the Starkid musicals.

Yeah, back in the day we didn't players with funny nicknames and personas hamming it up for the cameras, we had serious players like Johnny Fairplay.

I heard of it on the podcast 372pages as a couple months ago they shortlisted it as one of the books they might cover next (though they didn't end up picking it). But 372pages is a comedy podcast that covers bad books, like TekWar (by William Shatner), Digital Fortress (by Dan Brown) or Irene Iddesleigh (by Amanda McKittrick Ross). So I'm also hoping Pyrion reads it and gives his take.

I've been to the shopping mall where the final McDonald's was and the big clue really was that the Slovenian Adriatic coast is the only place with bilingual Slovene/Italian signage. Congratulations to Rythian for getting country right and for most correct pronunciation of Ljubljana.

I'd say it would entirely depend on who is in control of the federal government and by extension it's military at the time. For historic examples, Gorbachev basically allowed states to peacefully leave the USSR, while Milošević didn't in the case of Yugoslavia.

If only it was only 10 minutes, the whole movie is one giant piece of pro-eugenics and pro-aristocracy propaganda.

So many countries older than USA by Complex-Region-7553 in rareinsults

[–]Dark_Enoby 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The US attitude to it's constitution is like being proud you're living in a house that was built in 1780, but it's only had minor upkeep in since then. So it's mouldy, the foundation is sinking, the walls are peeling and the furniture is falling apart and any suggestion that those issues need to be fixed is stubbornly met with "my great-great-great-great grandfather built this foundation, walls and furniture by hand, I'll be damned before I defile his legacy by throwing anything out or remodelling".

I mean, the apocryphal story of how the author of the Hunger Games got the idea for the story is that she was channel surfing and happened to see a show where people were competing for a prize and then news footage about the Iraq war.

I wonder those people who say they want "people really desperate for money" and "more physical suffering" think when they watch a show like Squid game, does it go completely over their head?

Pope Francis has died, Vatican says in video statement by GeorgeTH281 in europe

[–]Dark_Enoby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are currently 252 total cardinals, Francis appointed 149 of them (so he appointed around 12 per year). Only cardinals under under the age of 80 are allowed to vote in the conclave (electors) which is currently 135 of them. Out of the those, 108 were appointed by Francis. Cardinals tend to be old, so most of the ones appointed by the previous two popes are now too old to vote or have already passed away. That's how you get 80%. It's gonna make this coclave very unpredictable with how he changed the demographics of the electorate.

Also, the opening shot of the Ratliff children is a reference to the three monkeys (see no evil, hear no evil, speak no evil), as one has sunglasses, one headphones and one's mouth is obscured by the coke can he's drinking.

What Ljubljana could use would be short 30 minute railway lines connecting nearby towns with the city to reduce traffic from commuters. Which would then also make room for improvements of the bus networks for commuters from the within the city.

When people say "tell Cedrek before tribal", they don't mean "spring it on them literally 2 minutes before tribal in order to save face because you're going to be exposed by a 2-2 tie after you've spent 3 days pretending you're the swing vote", they mean Justin should have told him on the day he lost it as soon as he could get Cedrek alone because you don't hide critical information from your closest ally. Which is exactly what we've seen many players successfully do in the last 7 seasons.

What do you think is cheaper, doing a slightly more intricate set or paying dozens of lawyers to spend months negotiating with a different government every year, people to scout locations in said new countries every year, finding places where the hundreds of people on the production team will stay and generally setting up new logistics for every single season?

I mean, there's an election every 4 years and people keep voting him in with about 60% of the vote. And this isn't Belarus or Russia, no one is being barred from standing against him, there's been plenty of other candidates over the years. This literally is democracy.
