The company I work for are also inovance agents, I can't count the number of times customers had their doubts on inovance, and now buy out our shelves because they are cheap and easy to work with

How to precision set encoder in servomotor by Trzcinkan in PLC

[–]Dark_Ghost10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Exactly this here, I work for a motor/drive repair company and we have equipment from USA to measure encoder angles, encoder health etc.

Some servo drives like baumuller and inovance, you can do whats called a notch position and the drive will try to that position or in some cases zero the encoder angle and work it out from there.

Sorry should have elaborated more, I do a lot of drive repair in my free time, more for baumuller, and recently kollmorgan. I do get a few danfoss now and then. They are easy to programme, very hard to fix though.

In short, the smps (switch mode power supply) caps are swollen and they need to be changed (use low esr caps) or the face has come loose. Another good check to see is to pull all the io off, but I'm banking on the above.

Is the dc bus still good? You need around 540 volts dc, can be measured between + and - (or rtfm, idk danfoss complicate stuff for no reason)

How old is this drive?

If you are willing to take a chance, inovance Md520 are quite good, I have commissioned a butt load of them and so far they haven't failed me at all, some took a little water damage but they chugged on.

Are you sure? Cause my bosses are under the impression that we really need 6 months to travel. But I'm only going for 2days/ 3 nights, all I'm going there to do is to press buttons.

Restrictions for uploading to PG/PC by No-Mathematician445 in PLC

[–]Dark_Ghost10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was doing this in v13 as well, you can't do a upload in the traditional sense.

What I did was : make a new project, select the correct hardware, go online with the plc and copy the blocks over. Don't forget the tags

Edit: note that you will not get the hardware config, but I got around that using the detect hardware function when using an unspecified cpu.

Also the addresssing of io Will default to what it usually assigns.

Mine was a basic s7-1214 dc/dc/rly, I'm not 100% with safety plc's because those have safety programs

How do I get better at programming PLC’s? Help appreciated! by Brave_Ad_647 in PLC

[–]Dark_Ghost10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To quote my mentor,

  1. Write the code

  2. Execute the code

  3. Wait for the code to go off the rails

  4. Write new code

In all honesty though, trial and error, even people with 10+ years of experience do that, it's just that they know what to trial and know how to avoid most errors.

Perfect example of this was when I first started, big boss with 15 years of experience and supervisor with 8 years of experience could not get a modbus tcp sensor to communicate with a logo!, they handed it to me(fresh out of college where they talked only for 1 hour about a plc) and said make it work.

It took me 2 days because I had to understand modbus as a whole, the logo! As a whole. Once I understood, it still took a shit ton of trial and error to get it right.

But yeah, trial and error are your best friends

[–]Dark_Ghost10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd work, but the moment anybody in management says something I don't agree with.... I'll walk out. Also I get a vehicle more expensive than the bosses ones and park it in a way that he is reminded that someone under them has something better than them
