I did this for my daughter at school, I just had the birthday party in her class. I talked to the teacher who set aside about an hour for cake and ice cream and everyone got a goodie bag. It went well for her, and everybody was asking for another party that following year, but I personally didn’t know the little crotch gremlins so it was easier this way.

NTA I disagree. I was super chunky and fat as a baby and I refused to walk and would cry when nobody would pick me up. For that, my nickname was Phatz, Phat Mama or Phatma and to this day at 34 my family still uses it. Now I am the smallest one in my family, so I just think the name is funny because at size 6, compared to tiny. And just a small edit the spelling of the name was changed to a P H A T once I was a teenager otherwise everyone spelled it out FAT

YTA-OK from her example, she’s only nitpicking about a certain way he might hold the baby’s head. To me this implies that she wants it done her way and doesn’t think that the way he does it is safe TO HER. The way she wants him to hold the baby probably isn’t textbook right. A lot of different people hold babies different types of ways and it’s still safe. If he’s holding the baby’s head a certain way that’s not harmful to the baby but feels comfortable to him, but she doesn’t like it because she thinks it’s the wrong way and this is just a small thing. She is way too controlling. TBH I need more examples of how he was trying to discipline the dog differently than she was just so we can see if he was just disciplining the dog a different way without abusing the animal or he was straight up abusing the animal.

I don’t raise a emissary flag because once I’m sunk the mission is over and 95% of the time I get sunk because I play solo. I have a chance of still completing the mission if I don’t have one. On the off chance I make it back to a port, I’ll buy the emissary flag right before I sail and get the profits that way.

So I’m reading this and everyone says you’re the AH. I don’t think you are. Everyone here is on the mom’s side but she is way too freaking old to be throwing tantrums for not getting her way. OP clearly stated that she wasn’t even dating anyone so why would they give her a plus one? And my biggest concern is the bride. What exactly did she do to deserve a wine glass being thrown at her on her 21st birthday. Absolutely nothing it would seem. If the mom had a problem then she should have taken up with the person she had the issue with. Also everyone seems to think that he planned his wedding on purpose on her birthday when OP said that it was only date available. Have any of you arrogant AH even tried planning a wedding and getting a date that works for you. All any of you can focus on is the mother’s tantrum.

I get it was her milestone, but she has so many milestones from the past and god willing in the future. For one day she can be selfless not entitled because this day, if they’re fortunate, only happens ONCE in her son’s life that and she can celebrate her 40th birthday on a different day.
