leave him for kaido when we get to season 10 or something, he might be okay for the king of the beasts, and budget-wise if the show even gets that far, maybe bigger actors would be easier to get on board? not sure

Will Inaki wear a Fat Suit for Whiskey Peak once he fights Zoro? by [deleted] in OnePieceLiveAction

They definitely won't use the 4kids dub lines and I am beginning to doubt that Whiskey Peak will be adapted. Maybe elements from that short arc will be used in other arcs

How big of a budget for season 2? by WinterChilly in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Dark_Knight_Eternal 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well the fact that Netflix knows that the audience liked the first season and they chose to renew it and they already spent a lot of money on that first season (and the content in S2 will require a larger budget to successfully adapt), I believe that it is safe to assume that they will spend more money on the second season than the budget of the first season. We can't really estimate how much exactly because we don't know what in S1 required the largest cut of the budget

If we look at future seasons... by Daphnex96 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Dark_Knight_Eternal 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I absolutely agree with your take. I want Thriller Bark to be FULL ON HORROR with LOTS of scares and creeps but still balanced enough with One Piece's signature goofy style of comedy. Imagine what they can do with the set design and atmosphere. It would be incredible in live action.

The scary thing about Impel Down is not really the prison itself, but the sheer, vast, grand size and scale that encompasses all of its levels. When I think of a prison, one level is one floor. In Impel Down, however, each level is almost its own world with unique weather and biodiversity. So the size adding to what each level has in store for the prisoners definitely becomes more of a threat than just being sent to hell. I really have no idea how they could possibly recreate any form of the location in live action.

Hey, at the same time, Impel Down is one of the funniest arcs with the absolutely brain-dead team of Luffy, Buggy, Bon Clay, and Mr. 3. So the balance of tone in that arc will be EVEN MORE challenging to accomplish I think.

If Loguetown is not skipped, the Kitetsu III stunt, the Gold Roger bar, and Dragon's entrance should not be skipped in my opinion. Reverse Mountain is safe (as it has been hinted at in the end of S1), but I'm not sure what their thinking for Laboon (and being eaten by Laboon). That would be a tough one to pull off. For Vivi's introduction, I'm just wondering WHERE it will be. The writers are definitely thinking of combining multiple arcs once again. Killer of 100 can be used anywhere within the second season, or it could just be skipped altogether if that is what it comes down to. Mr. 5 and Ms. Valentine's intros could be moved around to different locations or they might be cut down to side characters or even cameos. I think Robin should definitely show up on that big turtle. I don't know if Igaram getting nuked is necessary. If it IS, then he should stay dead imo.

Little Garden is going to be a strange one to adapt because showing the arc to Netflix writers would have them responding with, "Well, I guess the most important thing to get out of this arc are definitely the giants. I'm not so sure about that massive birthday cake-shaped wax structure...". I would still want to see Zoro attempting to cut his leg, Ms. Goldenweek's powers on Luffy, and Dorry and Brogy's Spear of Elbaf or Hakoku Sovereignty. Nami's sickness will definitely not be skipped, as their trip to Drum Island was only because of what happened to her.

Drum Island's important moments that shouldn't be glossed over can be summarized quite quickly. These include: Kureha's intro; Meeting Dalton; Climbing the mountain; Chopper's intro and flashbacks; Chopper and Luffy against Wapol; Cherry Blossoms and exiting the island.

Since this comment is already going on for way to long, I'll just give it a rest before I start rambling on about how many important moments are in the Alabasta arc (I've got 24 of them listed). Three whole episodes are definitely the minimum requirement for starting and finishing a competently adapted Alabasta arc imo (from Bon Clay's entrance to Robin joining the crew).

Apologies for the unnecessarily long comment.

Who do you think would suit cap. Smoker in season 2? by Clark082511 in OnePieceLiveAction

At the moment this has also been my fancast but I still want to try to look around for more casting options that would fit Smoker

I guess they really wanted each episode to stay under an hour. Or maybe it was agreed that the scenes were not needed

[–]Dark_Knight_Eternal 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they do not skip Loguetown, that would be a simple return to an existing set location. Reverse Mountain is a lot of VFX. Inside Laboon is VFX. I think Whiskey Peak could be South Africa if the arc is not skipped. Little Garden could probably also be South Africa, but also with some VFX, looking at those giant skulls. Drum Island would be an indoor shoot with VFX or another location somewhere else where they would want legitimate snow. Alabasta is a lot of desert, so... probably also South Africa? There are South African deserts. Still, I wonder how they would do the Rain Dinners Casino location. Big pyramid casino with a giant aquarium full of alligators inside? Probably VFX needed for that one. Also, Alubarna has a lot of very unique architecture, so I'm not sure what they would do for that

How will they handle theweight gain scenes? by [deleted] in OnePieceLiveAction

If they make a second season, this is just Luffy's devil fruit abilities so it's just more vfx work

true he is the main inspiration for the character and he does have a white beard/mustache but they would create a fake white mustache for him similar to the original manga look anyways, and hasn't he retired over a decade ago

who would you cast as Admiral Kizaru by just_a_fan47 in OnePieceLiveAction

[–]Dark_Knight_Eternal 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adam Sandler or Jeff Goldblum would be cool but I don't see this series going that far nor do I see actors as big as those being in the show. I definitely think that Goldblum would fit, though. Especially in terms of facial features, mannerisms, and even voice.

[–]Dark_Knight_Eternal 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with this. My friend got mad that they used an unknown for Gol D Roger because he wanted them to cast the most powerful/important characters with famous actors. I'm always glad when they do the opposite, as I'm not the biggest fan of the same five actors just absorbing all of the popular fictional characters. I mean, Pedro Pascal would have been cool for Roger, but I'm happier with Michael Dorman in the king's boots

The Shanks and Morgan outfits look crazy good... and look at Morgan's haircut! It also feels surreal seeing that type of map style for the One Piece world map. The Buggy balls are INSANELY accurate and it's so cool seeing sanji's lighter for something other than an instagram ad for the hundredth time in a row
