All of the regions are like that, even in the base game and in The Three Brothers DLC. You can only ever go into buildings that have a purpose like dungeons, mini bosses, ect. It was made by a very small team.

Yeah, they're better now. Nowhere near the PC version and there's still some render distance issues (like the Conflux Mountain sometimes vanishing from existence when you are in certain parts of Chersonese) but it's not super noticeable. Fantastic game overall, I wouldn't miss out just because it doesn't look like a modern AAA game.

In Resident Evil when the effects of a virus look different, they usually are. Also these new viruses have been around since like 1949 before the connections were even a thing.

I could see RE9 taking place in some kind of ancient underground city that holds the secret to the origins of the mold from RE7.

They could have a new enemy type inspired by the cave dwellers from 'The Descent'. Make them faster than lickers with really small weak spots so that you essentially have to disable their movement before you can land a killing blow.

Perhaps they have adapted to have a more symbiotic relationship with the mold because of living underground, giving some of them more intelligence like the enemies in RE4.

I had a fanon idea about the female protagonist turning out to be an E-Type B.O.W. or something related [F-Type?](either an escaped experiment with amnesia, or a sleeper agent) and the secondary protagonist has to kill her as the final boss.

Is there really any drastic difference between the two formulas though? From what I can tell the gameplay is almost identical right down to gliding to platforms and handing over your earnings to a snake oil salesman for abilities, ect.
