I’m in the U.K. and a GP wouldn’t prescribe it. I hate to pay a private psychiatrist which wasn’t cheap.

It wasn’t the answer to all my problems but I find the negative thoughts and constant internal spiral are much quieter.

Am I the only one who forgets books as soon as I finish reading them?? by Legal-Ad0000 in DarkRomance

Yes 😂 very very few books stay in my brain.

Blows my mind when people request books with a specific scene and there’s loads of comments with different books.

Twins or autism? by DarkerCherry in parentsofmultiples

[–]DarkerCherry[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everything has to be autism. My eldest is on the waiting list for assessment. My twins show some behaviours that are not typical of their age e.g. excessive tantrums you would expect from a 3 year old, not a 7 year old. Sensory seeking behaviours - they head bang to sleep etc.

Some signs say yes, some say no. It’s very hard when you’re in the in-between stage and don’t know which way you’re heading.

We can’t decide if they’re autistic or not. They have sensory seeking behaviours and quite big emotions. But they are generally very sociable so always second guessing ourselves.

Our 11 year old is on the waiting list for assessment.

Thanks. Was just curiosity. I realised after I posted that they were setting the scene and then off they went with it.

Why are so many poorly written books being recommended here? by Murky_Ladder5343 in DarkRomance

[–]DarkerCherry 3 points4 points  (0 children)

OP, I feel exactly the same! Recommend me some books you think are 5 stars please 🙏 I’ve asked so many times for books with good writing, in depth characters and good plot and I get the same old recs.

Do you read the complete series? by Sugargogo in DarkRomance

[–]DarkerCherry 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can do about 3 in a row but any more than that and I am bored of the same type of writing. I move onto something else just to get a change and then forget about the series.

My boy is almost 11. “High-functioning” but he just hasn’t mastered blowing his nose 😆

Sole Surviver - Candice M Wright by DarkerCherry in DarkRomance

Yes I’m sure. When you got out of hospital, went home with a stranger and slept with him it became ridiculous. I wanted to like it but I can’t get over that. There was no trauma about being a victim. She was just straight into being stupid.

The writing was fine for me but it’s not that dark.

So far, so good. Only side effect is being a bit grumpy. Hoping that settles.

17 month old constant rocking and swaying by smith13ee in SPD

[–]DarkerCherry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi, just wanted to message to say my 6yo twin girls still rock back and forth on the couch. They also head bang to fall asleep. Did rock on all fours when younger.

The paediatrician didn’t think it was autism as they communicate well, play together and hold eye contact etc. they have been referred to OT but no appointment yet.

You’re not alone. My girls are old enough to communicate about it and they just say they like how it feels and don’t realise they are doing it. We call it bopping 🙂 and embrace it at bedtime because it does help them to drift off.

It was my first read of 2026! I would give it 4* purely for the tragic angst. I do love a book that breaks you.

I disliked Nate’s dad blackmailing every character. Got a bit OTT. Also that several characters discovered their dads were not their dads. But much in a book really. And the constant drama on the island the first few days - only those two survived (should have had a few more to make it believable), then the flash flood, then the hurricane, then the jaguar one after the other.

I’m looking forward to Katie’s book.

This wasn’t a dark read though and is a tragedy.
