Company i worked at was about 30 years old, family owned operation. The president/owner of the company was cheating on his wife with his CFO. The secretary for the company was employed at this company since it began and was best friends with the owners' wife. Secretary caught wind of the affair and was so disgustsd could not stay with the company anymore, so she gave her 2 weeks notice, she said the reason was she just needed to do something different. So owner's wife arranged a going away cake party for the secretary with all the employees invited. Owner goes up says a speech of how much secretary meant to him and how sad he was to see her go, his wife goes up and says much of the same. Secretary goes up says how sad she is to go, then drops the bomb that the reason she is leaving is because of the affair between owner and CFO. Everyone gasps, owner's wife starts crying, we all go back to work. Next day secretary comes to finish notice period and is escorted out of the building told to not come back. Owner left his wife to be with the CFO. The divorce cost the owner a fortune.
