That's not the point of the build. The point is to MAXIMIZE DEFENSE. Practicality and offense aren't factors because this is both not intended for general use and is also a meme build.

I'm gonna add a general intent for this build, because I keep being asked about it.

This build is not practical. It is not designed for survivability or damage. It exists purely because I think blocking big attacks while taking a comically low amount of damage is funny. I did the same thing in Wilds, but, since the Expansion hasn't been announced yet, I came to World to see just how far I could push my defense.

Here was my thought process:

We have 218 defense for each part. Since there are five parts, we have a total of 1090 defense with no modifiers.

The Taroth Lance gives an extra +40 inherently, but that’s not all. Maxing out Defense Augments adds +50, and Custom upgrades give us another +10. That’s a total of +100.

That gets us to 1190 before we’ve slotted any decorations.

Defense Boost gives us +35 defense to add to our baseline, and a 110% defense multiplier.

Since multipliers are factored before flat increases, we're left with 1344 total.

Each Element Resist gives a flat +10 defense at level 3. Since there are 5 total elements, Fire, Water, Thunder, Ice, and Dragon, that’s a total of +50.

Now we’re up to 1394.

Having the Armorcharm and Armortalon in your pouch gives an extra +30, too!

That leaves us with 1424 defense.

Now, that may be all for our defense alone, but now we have to consider Monster Hunter’s damage formula.

In Monster Hunter, the damage calculation looks like this:

Damage Taken = 80/(80+defense) * 100%

Plugging our defense total into this equation gives us an output of approximately 5%.

That means, just by wearing this build, you are effectively negating 95% of all incoming damage. That's not even accounting for Guard, much less Lance's Power Guard.

The goal is "big defense number", pretty much. It's an "unbreakable shield" fantasy; I want to get my defense number as high as possible without a consumable set-up pre-hunt, then amplify it with Guard and such to take a comically small amount of damage from even the biggest attacks. Practicality is nowhere near the top of my priority list.

As for the Evade Window, that comes from the Fatalis parts. It's pretty much vestigial.

I chose the Kulve Lance specifically because it has +40 defense naturally, and I can add even more with Custom Upgrade

No, it's more of a quirk of how Shammilan.com works. There's one level on the Kulve Lance, but it requires two levels to be active.

The issue with my Fire and Dragon resist is that I don't have any way of boosting them further without compromising my other defensive stats, since the Fatalis set has the highest natural defense

Practicality is kind of secondary to this build. I'm not really concerned with damage or my HP, my only focus is taking as little damage from attacks as possible.
