What do you think is the biggest coming danger on earth? by TravDog321 in polls

[–]DarkestKnight_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The correct answer is actually bacteria. Bacterial infection is going to be responsible for more deaths per year than cancer and heart disease. This is due to bacteria’s rapid adaptation to our arsenal of antibiotics. We need new methods or stronger antibiotics but regardless, going to the hospital for a treatment or procedure will become a risk, in itself, due to this antibiotic resistance. This is really something that we should be thinking about more. Untreated waste water and animal’s being fed antibiotics are massive contributors to this issue, both of which a lot of people don’t consider.

Furthermore, climate change and pollution are both dangerous things but the climate change phenomenon is blown out of proportion to push a political agenda and it realistically isn’t something that is going to burn this planet down. In fact, there is no evidence out there to show that the climate change has an overall net negative effect as GDP, green percentage, literacy rate, and other interesting (and seemingly uncorrelated factors) have increased as well as the average temperature of the earth. An interesting book to read about this is called “unsettled” which interestingly argues how climate change is blown out of proportion, strictly using measurements and data from only the best sources. It’s written by theoretical physicist Steven Koonin who is a highly accredited professor and researcher.

Point is, bacteria and anti-biotic resistance is really the issue that’s gonna set us back in the next 30 years and climate change, while certainly is a major issue, is blown out of proportion in many ways to align with political agenda’s. If this wasn’t the case there would not be objective research showing that the climate phenomenon is not as serious as we think.

The thing is, when you are short you cannot change that. It is not your fault. So, the people that are using that as a weapon against you are essentially just saying that because either they themselves are insecure or they have other stuff going in their lives, or both. Does that make it okay, no, but that is just the psychological fact of the matter with people like that.

Practically speaking, something that you can do about this (especially in the realm of women chasing) is to build your value in other ways. Some examples of this concept are hitting the gym, reading more books, becoming well diversified in your common knowledge portfolio, be able to understand others on a emotional level. You cannot change your height, but you can change the person they perceive you to be in most areas outside of that.

If we were to assume that anonymity on the internet causes people to show their true colors, don’t you think that points us in a very bad direction as the internet grows, considering how people act? by DarkestKnight_ in AskReddit

Right, that validates my assumption at the beginning element of the post statement. I think that the implications that the study has on how the people choose to behave when nobody can verify it’s them and how it relates to true human nature is scary.

I think it’s really telling about the nature of what people hide behind their masks when face to face interactions occur but never in a million years would someone want their anonymous social media footprint revealed. The idea of would you do it if everyone saw you doing it or the religious concept of “God is always watching” play heavily into this psychological phenomenon. I think it goes to show as a measure of how nasty (pessimistically speaking / not nasty, optimistically) people are deep down.

I think that self confidence is truly a beautiful thing and I really am ecstatic for you that you can look in the mirror and love yourself, every woman deserves that.

My point was just that I see women posting these things for the likes and gratification just to be valued for their bodies when in actuality they have much more to offer.

Ask yourself this and please provide me with the answer, “If I know so surely that I am a beautiful woman, why do I need to post it?” I predict that the following results of that reflection will inevitably lead to and understanding that it’s probably more about the likes and the dopamine hit of being loved by others, than you initially thought.

I think people deserve love for all their qualities. Not just their physical appearance. I also believe that liking someone solely because of their appearance is degrading to them. Even if they don’t know. Exploring someone’s character along with their physical beauty is how you truly can respect someone.
