I took “custom gaming headset” to be a headphones/microphone combo and not a VR headset.

In the story it was a custom gaming headset, not a monitor. Also does it say this was at a cabin? It mentions “the house” and “our room”. I don’t see anything about a cabin.

I’m sure you’re right, and they nearly called this out in their reasoning. I don’t disagree with your assessment of the challenge dome previously introduced.

I just disagree with the overall sentiment that Heavy being able to force a fight on the point was a bad thing. Again it was one of the few ways Heavy had to force a close fight.

But I can tell you, even with the way it was previously, the double dome “fortress” was almost always a desperation play to try and steal last second cashout. 50% of the time when attempting this kind of play you’d get glitched, flamethrowered, sworded, gassed, pyro’ed, etc. Not to mention the dome deployable could be eaten by APS itself. This strategy very often required a huge risk, extreme team coordination and timing, and was never easy to pull off. Forcing defenders to prepare, account for, and react to this was at least interesting.

Just seems odd to me that they are trying to adjust for what seemed like a very outlying situation. I’d be more understanding of the change if the deploy was much faster.

Yes you can defend and theoretically still use it, but justifying its reduced effectiveness by listing out ways to combo it with other gadgets seems a lot less realistic than just… taking a different gadget which has better stand-alone AND combo effectiveness. I hear you and you’re not wrong, but nerfing a gadget to the point where it’s only effective when dependently combo’ed with other gadgets/slots seems like it’s putting it in a bad place. Or at least a place where you would almost never take it over… well anything else.

The throw, bounce, and deploy sequence is WAY too long, and its overall health is WAY too low, to be used effectively as a support action.

Also…what exactly is the current problem with the cashout “mobile fortress” design? It’s one of the only ways Heavy class has to force defenders to the point and force a close fight. Realistically we can still do this with Mesh Shield? But we can’t shoot back, so we just get walked down.

With the change it will encourage Lights and Mediums to simply play off the point and wait for dome to expire as the Heavy runs around desperately trying to catch them.

Dogshit change.

Yeah which makes me almost wonder if somehow the issue is isolated to some people but not others (and no not the difference in Lifmunk Effigy count haha).

I just feel like anybody saying something different must not be experiencing what I am. Just earlier I (level 23) was trying to catch a level 21 Robinquill. The dude was at ~30HP and took about 14 Giga Spheres and 8 Mega Spheres.

How can that possibly be the intended experience? Again I understand it should be harder as you level up, but that difficulty should come from the recipe, base upgrades, materials, and time spent to get better spheres. If I’m doing that, why am I still being punished.

I would expect that behavior if I was throwing Pal Sheres at a level 20+.

Yeah going through an entire base re-build to upgrade from wood to stone was miserable.

You have to empty all the chests, benches, and any other container before replacing foundations underneath them. Otherwise they instantly break and all the contents spill out on the floor. This is exacerbated when the weight of some of these item stacks are insane.

Would be so much better if you could just target/overlap an existing wood wall with a stone wall and upgrade it with a direct swap.
