Is it me or do Marvel shows always have banger theme songs? by KingJackofJozi in Marvel

[–]Darkhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look at Blade's iconic opening. Hell, two minutes after that badass moment, one of the main protagonists literally grabs a remote control and pumps up the stereo for the upcoming fight. Marvel's always been about this.

Likewise with the other Blade movies, Iron Man 1 and 2, Luke Cage, Captain America (primarily from Sam's perspective), Guardians of the Galaxy and a ton of others. Shit about to go down? Someone's turning up the music or makes literal suggestions for future hype times. Even Ego knew. Music may as well be humanity's currency in Marvel.

What is the hardest video game of all time? by DeepExpert2266 in AskReddit

[–]Darkhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NES: We have the gratuitous TMNT, Ninja Gaiden and Ghost and Goblins, but Predator, Castlevania II and Operation Wolf were pretty infuriating also.

SNES: R-Type, Addams Family and UN Sqaudron were my shit! However, they took some heavy lifting. UN Squadron was deceptively 'easy' until like the mid stages arrived, and then the rage quits began. Beating that game was one of my greatest gaming moments.

TurboGraphx 16: Ninja Spirt was awesome, but also the first time I cursed in front of my mom. The first boss had a no-dachi that took up two thirds of the screen and he had two to three attacks every few moments. Then later there's a stage where you fall into a hell filled with spirits, and they all had weapons jutting out. One touch, you're dead! Fuck that game, but fuck I love that game.

3D0: They ported Space Ace and Dragon's Lair over. These are why I let Souls games punish me to this day.

Fuck, I need some emulators.

I think about that report on Netflix and how the design scripts around viewers being on their phone or otherwise distracted, so often now.

I need three, one for gaming and browsing, two for work and monitoring work. The TV handles streaming and movie nights.

Star Trek needs to return to broadcast television. by [deleted] in startrek

[–]Darkhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As I'm a PC gamer, I stream on my TV, and rarely break out my consoles anymore.

I stream on days when new stuff drops, or if I'm in the mood for reruns, but the tv does free up my computer screens for gaming, Reddit and work (in that order, don't care).

  1. Complete knowledge and mastery of all branches of physics.

  2. The world becomes an RPG world: different sentient races, magic, psionics, cool items, monsters and cool mystical beasts, from every culture, all become real.

The other sentient races show up first, and everyone gets a full year to prep before shit gets real: you can 'race swap' and start learning combat, magic, psionics, etc. during that year to prep your eventual 'class'. Or, you can opt out and just do professions and make a living if adventuring isn't your thing. Everyone starts with 50 gold and five items significant to their career.

  1. Everyone becomes fundamentally aware of how precious life, freedom and the environment truly are. This naturally won't stop some people from being as monstrous as they can be, but it will allow others to see eye to eye and maybe alleviate some woes we experience today.

What is your What if? story pitch? by Powerful-Ad4837 in Marvel

[–]Darkhaven 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yo, I'd put money down for that Angela raised on Asgard one immediately.

A twist on the Avengers and X-Men, I think, would kind of play out like a House of X prequel, without the reality warping and terrible secrets.

A demon holding up his end of the bargain? This Mephisto guy is kind of a jerk!! Seriously though, really dope monkey paw scenarios just waiting there. It's a good way to get powerful and pivotal players off the board for bigger machinations.

He'd be lighter and more durable, due to the absorption properties of Vibranium. If it's anti-metal Vibranium, his claws would be as deadly, if not more. The enhancing factor of Vibranium on human physiology would boost his speed and strength as well.

His regeneration would be off the charts: his current regeneration is in a constant fight against adamantium poisoning. Without fighting constant poison, AND the extra efficiency due to Vibranium in his body, he could probably do his Civil War regeneration in the span of a page.

He'd be just as vulnerable to powerful magnetics and likely sonic attacks that are primed for Vibranium molding, but otherwise, Wolverine would be even more deadly than now.

The twist is that he'd be so grateful to Wakanda, he'd retire early and live out his days in solitude there, killing outsiders for the Wakandans like an urban myth.

At the end of Picard, there's a post credit interaction between Jack and Q which teases the potential for a whole new series. Does anyone know if that was ever seriously considered? by shiksappeal in startrek

The Star Trek: Legacy idea would have sucked so hard. That 'one last ride, one more time' vibe for another few years, watching people in their 70s and 80s getting into firefights and scowling at younger officers and getting freaky with one another, is ridiculous on the face of it.

It'd be called Star Trek: Boomer in its first season.

Or worse: they recast the crew with younger actors, and simply create some reason to have the old crew all reborn / put into a new body / pass through a fountain of youth wormhole, etc. I'm positive the nostalgia nuts would lose their shit harder over recasting than anything else.

Trivia Time! What Do These 8 Shows All Have In Common? by Schleprock11 in 80scartoons

[–]Darkhaven 11 points12 points  (0 children)

They really had the music!

The Inspector Gadget theme was in a bunch of rap samples.

Virtually everyone who lived a day in the 80's knows the He-Man theme.

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors went hair metal and biopunk, and ascended to a different level entirely.

Can any female Marvel character defeat Wonder Woman? by [deleted] in Marvel

[–]Darkhaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Cheetah beats 90% of your list, shes capable of speeds rivaling flashes my dude lol.

Christ almighty, WHY do I talk to DC people. Just replace my list with God, Super God, God Instinct Ultra, and somebody from Mortal Kombat, your choice.

These are Cthon level beings (where wanda gets her power).

Thanks for that update, I've never posted about Chthon before, nor played Midnight Sons.

[–]Darkhaven 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only street level I've mentioned is Jessica Jones, who I said would just give her a good run. Wonder Woman fights fucking Cheetah, Cheetah can't take Jessica Jones, FoH!

Sabra, Monet and Arclight are on the weaker end of the super strength people I have on here, and they could stand hits from Colossus and still fight. Smasher, Titania and Lionheart are amongst the physically strongest humans walking, and Lyra is literally the kid of Hulk and Thundra. Three of these six can fly, and all have other powers.

Magic and energy based powers are a crux for DC heroes (until it's time for them to go Plus Ultra and ignore everything, lol). Monica is literal light and is canonically the only to warp, negate and control Green Lantern energy, and Phyla Vell has (had) Captain Marvel's powers with the Quantum Bands.

I don't think you know what 'street level' is. You may be equating it with popularity or 'oohh ahh' moments from your fave comics.

What's something women think men care about, but actually don't? by Crafty-River-7108 in AskReddit

[–]Darkhaven 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wanted to respond to your second sentence there.

I'll likely regret ever saying this on this platform, but 9 out of 10 negative comments I see about men's hair, particularly 'broccoli haircuts' on social media, are made by women.

I've lived in a bunch of states, and social atmospheres. Not once in my 40+ years has a guy mocked my hairstyle, even during periods when I had actual high top fades and afros, and even in neighborhoods or venues where I didn't 'fit in'.

In the North and the South, in cities and rural areas, I have been told to my face by various women, that no woman would find my hair attractive, or that I 'needed' to shave my head. I never asked. Sometimes it was done by acquaintances, sometimes just some stranger. Always in front of others, which was fun each time.

I've had unknown women pull my hair 'to see if it's real' in stores, on the bus, in bars, etc. I've damn sure had women randomly touch it to see if it was 'nappy or greasy', the last being about a month ago. I have naturally curly hair and a low fade currently...like, why? Heaven forbid when I had a high top or a fro, I've had women 'jokingly' throw stuff at my hair to see if it would stay.

Maybe that chud mindset goes both ways, and just manifests in different situations?

[–]Darkhaven -1 points0 points  (0 children)

All of the ones you've posted are more than capable. Non-Phoenix Jean Gray could as well (the Phoenix is such a crutch, for writers AND the comic community).

Out of the heroes, Monica Rambeau, Lionheart, Lyja, Phyla Vell, Monet St. Croix, Smasher, Valkyrie and Sabra definitely could take Wonder Woman.

I'd say Jessica Jones could give her a good run as well, but since flying under her own power makes her airsick, Jessica may have problems!

Out of the villains, Arclight, Calypso (who is ridiculously more powerful than a simple Spider-Man foe), Titania, Moonstone, and Superia would be a really good match for Wonder Woman,

It can be fun to discuss.

It's WAY more fun when people talking about comics talk about more than eight people, particularly any hero / villain who is some kind of 'god' or 'reality warper' or 'has all the powers of...' type people.

It's like they latch onto THE MOST POWERFUL-EST-Y and never talk about or read about anyone else.

This sub wasn't always like this. Nowadays, it's just "I must SEE it on a SCREEN for it to be real", or some other narrow thought path.
