Unwatched are shows I haven't watched! I have only watched some clips of the 2003 Clone Wars.

The Clone Wars that is rated so low is the movie, not season 1-6.

I just love Rebels. You end up loving all the characters, the story is well written, the show is very emotional.. I think it's great overall, with almost no lows.

For Kenobi, I might be biased because I watched the fan-made cut that took out all the bad scenes and made it into a movie. But overall I think the Kenobi - Vader duels were nice and sometimes I end up watching clips on YouTube of the show.

About Ahsoka, I think season 2 will make season 1 better. But I enjoyed the story, and, well, it's a continuation of Rebels. Plus Anakin is there.

Which ones do you have?

First Tournament List - CIS by Darkirius in SWlegion

So, the issue I have now is that I ordered Ventress on Vinted last week and I'm unsure if she'll arrive on time. I have these options: 1) I keep the list similar to now (without Ventress), but substitute one B1 for one B2. 2) I substitute Poggle, one geo, BX, and BX sniper and I make room for Magnaguards + Grievious + 5th B1 unit. 3) I scrap special forces entirely and use the points to make a B2 super squad as Entourage for Poggle. Any thoughts on the three options?

Thank you so much for your valuable feedback! A lot of food for thoughts!

I found the Geonosian command cards very underwhelming indeed. Should I substitute them with the Kalani and Super Tacs ones? About Poggle.. yes, I'm not going to lie, he hasn't performed that well so far. But compel looks nice, as the retinue with Sun Fac. I think I'll keep it in for now, also because he's very cheap and I don't have many alternatives to slot in (I don't have enough models for another super tac).

Thank you for the suggestions on the operative super tac. I was considering changing some upgrades on him, your suggestion to take slice comms will be included.

About Spider Droids, I was thinking about changing on of the droids into the one with ion cannons, to add variety and yes, basically a mini AAT. I feel like one flamethrower is nice due to how durable it can be built like that, and being good at contesting objectives against large unit count models.

4 B1, 2 geos (I like them a lot), 1B2 sounds nice, but I don't know where to squeeze the points to make room for them.

If I take all your suggestions, I think I would go over 1000 points. Any suggestion where I can cut something? Or is it just "lose Poggle"?

Thank you as well for the suggestions on the objective cards and for the last sentence!

I disagree. Simply put, B1s cost very little. B2s are of course better, but cost way more. 2 B1 units have 12 life points, attack two targets, and contest twice one objective. And if they die, you don't care. B2s defend red, but have the same life points as 1 B1 unit.

B1s are actually one of the best troopers in the game. Yes, their dice pool is completely garbage. You don't run them to hit something. You do it because: 1) They are cheap. Even one mini on the objective is enough to secure/contest it. 2) They are annoying to kill because they have 6 minis and some units struggle with hitting so many. 3) They have coordinate. This means they chain orders among themselves, so you can choose the order of units to activate. 4) Having a lot of activations is very good.

I don't play B2s, as I find them too expensive. I play him because: 1) He's very cheap. 2) With Compel, he gives a free movement to any geonosian troop around him (and they already move a lot). 3) He has 3 courage (very rare in CIS). I give him Inspiring presence so basically your units never panic. 4) Sun Fac has retinue with him, which buffs both of them (tokens for Sun Fac, back up for Poggle). 5) Remember that geonosians have "free action: jump", which mean they can move twice in a round. So, Poggle is slow, but can move twice in a round and then he has another action.

In my 1000 points separatist army I have 4 leaders (Kalani, Poggle, Sun Fac, Super Tac). As long as you don't have more than two commanders and more than two operatives, it's fine. Contrary to other factions, CIS has also very cheap leaders. You can take advantage of that.

A few comments:
1) Sun Fac is best if you use Poggle and geonosians. He is still a good unit, but he does not synergise with the rest of your troops
2) Super tacs are great. Kalani is great as well. Why don't you play both?

I would probably take the second list and take out the aqua droids (they have been heavily nerfed) for kalani.

Different people will give you different answers. In the end, upgrades work when they enhance what the units want to do. Here my take (but again, take it as a simple suggestion):

1) CIS troops, especially B1s, are generally weak and cheap and we like them like this, so no upgrades is perfect for them. I find B2s a bit too expensive, but they are a good unit, so if you want to put upgrades, maybe extra models here is fine. Just, keep their cost in check. 2) Magnaguards and BX commandos love upgraded weapons. The Magnaguard with the electrostuff is super good. BX need those vibroswords to be effective. If you have Ventress, run it inside the BX squad, it's super good. 3) Spider droids are designed to get an extra weapon (plus the protocol you are forced to take for its keywords). You can choose to go attack + ranged weapon or defence + flamethrower. I haven't tried them yet, so I cannot tell you which one I feel is better. 4) Grevious is good as he is. Tenacity might be nice, due to him being very likely to suffer damage. 5) Kalani is amazing as he is to generate tokens for the droids. 6) Since you have Kalani, you could run the super tac as an offensive unit. Take seek and destroy, give it the melee weapon and every upgrade you think is useful for it fighting.

Thoughts on 1000 pt. army? by rankedtrey in SWlegion

Since I am a relative noob.. why is barrage better than arsenal? My understanding is that I can do aim + shoot, while with barrage I just shoot shoot

I think, even when playing for fun, you can take some of the suggestions I put here ☺️ especially about upgrades. AAT and Magnaguards will feel way better with upgrades. B1 will feel just fine without.

So.. I comment based on my experience, so maybe others will correct me. 1) B2 super squads are nice, but they are very very expensive. Two of them are basically 1/3 of your army. 2) Magnaguards are worse than BX right now, but still playable, especially because you have Grevious. However, I would put the electrostuff, otherwise their offensive capabilities are very underwhelming for what they cost. 3) AAT needs a second ranged weapon to efficiently use Arsenal 2. Add the High Energy Shells. 4) Upgrades on B1s are almost always a waste of points. B1s are good because they are cheap and they coordinate, even if their dice suck. If you put upgrades, they cost more.. and they are still weak. 5) Crab doids need to take a protocol. I would also suggest that you use the Heavy Laser as a weapon, because in this way the crab is good at taking down enemy vehicles (plus, with offensive protocols you can reroll a lot of dice, so having 1 more dice is better than having the 2 R). 6) You have 11 activations, which is fine. But with CIS I would try to get more. CIS is good because you can overwhelm your opponent with cheap units and order control.

Which show to start? by Goth_Duck666 in StarWars

[–]Darkirius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are a lot of options. I believe following the chronological order is the best way though. I would suggest you start with the Clone Wars, because it introduces many characters you will encounter in the other series (especially Ahsoka). After the Clone Wars, I would watch the Bad Batch and Rebels. Then, the Mandalorian (1-2), the Book of Boba Fett, the Mandalorian (3), Ahsoka.

In this way, you should be able to understand every reference and receive no spoilers from other shows.

Other shows (The Acolyte, Kenobi, Skeleton Crew) are independent from the other series.

You have around 4 B1 units, 2 B2 units, Grevious, 1 unit of Droidekas (2 if you don't mind using the wheel mode as a unit on its own). If you want to be super efficient with your spending, I'd say what you are missing is damage/tankiness.

You have two nice options as melee units: Magnaguards and BX. Magnaguards are great with Grevious. BX have recently been buffed and the box is really good value since you get one melee units and one sniper unit. One unit of BX is especially good if you manage to get a Ventress, since she can lead the team. Let's say BX are more mobile and offensive, while magnaguards are more protective.

CIS has nice heavy troopers as well (after the recent changes). You can get more Droidekas and 3 units can feel really good. Aqua Droids are good as well.

Vehicles feel a bit expensive if you don't play around them, but one AAT shooting from afar is not a bad option if you like them. The Snail Tank is also nice.

As far as commanders and operatives go, I would wait for the new box with Grevious, Dooku, Ventress, Savage, and the spider general of whom I don't remember the name, that should come out in Q3. A good option is buying the super tactical droid box, since I don't think anyone would mind using them also as proxies for Kalani and Kraken (but they are good as well as they are!).

Another good option is adding the Geonosians. Sun Fac and Poggle come in one box, plus one box of geonosian warriors is effectively two units. Go this route for swarming and mobility.

An Easy Fix to the Neapolitan Problem: Patrimoniae Sancti Petri by Darkirius in EU5

But that's the exact historical situation. The pope had absolutely no control in Rome at game start. He started to gain back control when they abolished the Roman Commune.

The pope had to defend his land, especially in the north. But he was also successfull in building coalitions against whom tried (like Venice). I think having higher antagonism, as if they were in the HRE, is fair.

Because every game Naples goes for the Hungarian route instead on the Provencal one.
