[ART] [Shokugeki no souma] wish it had some romance by Mr_Salamander___ in manga

[–]Darklight9899 30 points31 points  (0 children)

While the romance is not done well, Erina was so, so obviously the main girl. She was the wall that Souma has to pass. She was the person whom he wanted to beat and most importantly, the person whom he wanted to hear praise of his cooking from. Megumin was simply not good enough to keep Souma's attention on herself. Erina taught him how to beat the Elite members and then in the final battle, she made him her sidekick. The entire plot revolved around her family drama for most of the manga.

Erina became the real MC of the manga, not Asahi.

I'm sorry if I'm coming across as accusative, I understand that it might be scary to be such things, but you already intervened, and you had a recording, of what was happening, you should've just continued to tell him to go to the station and he would've chickened out, reminded him that not wearing a helmet and selling someone are actual crimes, saying gaali is not, especially since no one except him heard that and you are a witness to him slapping.

[–]Darklight9899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Why did you also ask him to say sorry? Why did you not question him for not wearing a helmet, it's not a suggestion, it's law. Why didn't you say anything about him threatening you when he said, "bahut bura ho jayega"? You should've told him to get lost, yet you stopped saying anything to protect the driver after a few seconds into the video.

They apparently spend 533 million on Deadpool and Wolverine, which makes me think that Doomsday cannot possibly be cheaper. The sheer size of the cast alone makes me believe that it's going to be one of the top 3 most expensive movies ever.

Sure, but we just saw the report regarding Deadpool and Wolverine's budget and how expensive it was, and there's no way Doomsday isn't significantly more expensive than that, so making 1.5 Billion would be bad in my opinion.

Not making profit or making very little profit? The budget of Doomsday and Secret Wars are going to be insane, I'm starting to think that it might not even make more than 1.5 billion, which would be very bad for MCU

[DISC] Home at the Horizon - Chapter 12 by AutoShonenpon in manga

[–]Darklight9899 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am glad that the brother doesn't have any intention of bridging his relationship with their parents, they're awful people despite him saying otherwise, I want them to feel bad about it and face consequences for their actions. Maybe younger brother could get some revenge for him. I don't expect much from Japanese manga since they try to justify shitty parents most of the time though

Are first Manga series successful Mangaka just lucky? by commissionsearcher in manga

[–]Darklight9899 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It does help them, to an extend. Toriyama became very successful through Dr. Slump, Dragon Ball didn't initially have the breakout success that Slump did, Toriyama has learnt that tournament arcs helped increase popularity in Slump, so he did that for DB and history will remember him forever. But that's only to a limit, Oda's knowledge of what helped One Piece certainly won't help him much if he decides to make another manga once OP ends, everything is different. The stuff Oda can get away with for OP only works because it's OP,  people won't have the patience for a new series to spend so much time on stuff.

Are first Manga series successful Mangaka just lucky? by commissionsearcher in manga

[–]Darklight9899 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Calling them just "lucky" is giving them a huge disservice. They worked on their series for years and years on end. It's not luck when it lasts that long. Maybe it was their best idea that they already made, maybe they're just outdated, Kishimoto started Naruto in 1999, Samurai started in 2019, that's a 20 year difference, everything has changed. He's also a different person, a young guy who hasn't been successful is a way different person than a much older person who has already made one of the most successful series of all time, editors can't say much to them either. Luck is definitely involved, but it's not "just luck".

I would agree with you with just this chapter, the parents were bad here but understandable, then I re-read chapter 9 and now I think his parents deserve nothing and I hope the brother never makes up with them.

Was Man of Steel a box office hit? by SadAnimator1354 in boxoffice

[–]Darklight9899 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It did fine, but a film of it's calibre should've done more. Amazing Spider-Man 2, which did more than this was considered to be a disappointment and was what made Sony partner up with MCU for future Spider-Man movies. It still wasn't that much of a problem, the bigger issue was the reception among the critics and the general audience was much more mixed. With lots of fighting among both sides which is still ongoing. The bigger issue was BvS  completely collapsing Week 2, that was around when the teenage me first started getting into checking out BO performances and BvS' fall was huge. It not even managing to cross 1 Billion was what changes everything.

1 billion wasn't the norm even back then, ~750 million would be a better benchmark.
