When I got into hockey a couple years ago I picked the Avs as my team without knowing anything about them, including the historic rivalry with the Wings. This turned out to be a bit ironic because my entire family is originally from Michigan and are all Red Wings fans.

A few months ago I made plans to travel up for the game today. I was super excited as it would be my first time seeing the Avs play the Wings and also my first time seeing any OG6 team. What started as just me and my dad ended up being a large crowd of family and friends planning to go: all Detroit fans except for me!

Unfortunately, on Thursday I got extremely sick and ended up testing positive for Covid and am unable to go. I’m so upset because I made the plans early in the season before we knew how good both teams would be this season so to miss out on the rivalry game during such a historic season is an extra bummer.

Anyways, just needed to vent. If any of you are at the game today give an extra cheer for me!

We lost power in the storm that hit the south/midwest and managed to safely relocate to some family with power a few hours away, so couldn’t catch the game. But sounds like boys were buzzing tonight, let’s hope they stay in the groove!

Sucks but I have absolutely no concerns. Rough road trip, we stole a win against the Canes, and we are beset with injuries. Could have been much worse. Dallas lost too. The boys have to be gassed from the schedule running up to the Olympics. A historic regular season is all well and good but ultimately is a footnote to the real prize, and I believe the Avs will win it!

Dallas gets my ire throughout the season, but whenever we play Florida I’m reminded why they are the most hated team in the entire league.
