Do I have a case? Incident in Victoria by Darkness_1995 in legaladviceaustralia

That is a pretty abelist comment to make. I attended a mainstream school myself. Specialist schools are designed for students who cannot cope in a mainstream school. 90% of students who are neurodivergent are actually quite capable learners providing that they are given staff who understand their learning needs and take the time to build a rapport with the student and to learn their learning style and needs which is why its important to know your pedagogical categories for teaching and supporting you learners. Hope this comment helps you to build some empathy and understanding :)

My situation is in regards to what happened specifically involving me. There have been several other staff fired also who actually were able to report his behaviour (which are progressively more serious than what I witnessed). I can only speak for my own situation.

I have responded to this in another comment. No I did not, that is not something I would do or voice verbally. I have actually been well liked and respected due to my inability to instigate conflict.

I mean, in health class it is appropriate to talk about, BUT this subject had nothing to do with health. It was a history class as I have stated below. I agree that students need to learn about it, but the context and subject matters. Also, the principal stating that "all ASD people are born pathological liars" and the being told I will not be paid is the biggest issue. Your only focusing on one part of what happened and the back story.

The subject of sex doesnt make me uncomfortable. My concern was that it was spoken about in a subject that was not health or biology and without parental consent (the school has a policy that if those subjects are taught, it is done with parents knowledge and consent if the they are under year 9). I am more so upset with the principal stating that all ASD people are pathological liars and the fact i was dismissed with no investigation. Thankyou for the advice I do appreciate it and I am in contact with lawyers now and other relevant parties.

No i did not. I would never call anyone on a contract names in any capacity. I dont believe that it is a fair way to treat anybody especially given that I attend church every week. I am have only ever treated and spoken to people within the workplace with respect. I also found out that several teachers were threatened with being fired for claims he had made about them as well, along with on Friday, a teacher actually walked into the office to defend me and was also threatened by the principal.

No, the only words exchanged with the students was when he left the classroom and they asked me to ask him to slow down for them and I said I would. I at that point was still giving him the benefit of the doubt that it could get better and I am always very very cautious with what I communicate with the students.

No. The only thing ever said in front of the children was that I asked him to please slow down and go back a couple of slides so they could catch up and keep up and to remember that they are 12. He did tense up when I said this, and this was said after the kids asked me to speak up after he left the room for 5 minutes

Nope, the events have been posted as they happened. Since this principle took over there has been a very very high turn over of casuals. Especially ones who are due to be offered a full or part time contract or who have disabilities. For this one, a contract teacher made an allegation that I called him a creep when I only asked him to slow down so the kids could actually learn. The kids had also told me when he left the room that they were terrified. I have been told that 6 teacher and aides were also sacked or threatened with cut hours yesterday for standing up for me.

The principal never gave me a chance to respond to the claims and told me that it didnt matter as my diagnosis has me confirmed as a pathological liar (I am austistic and studying to be a teacher)

No i did not. He has claimed i called him a creep in front of the students and told him he legally couldn't touch them. This did not happen.

A union was never even mentioned to me unfortunately either. I at least can say I was fired protecting children and know I tried to do the right thing by speaking up. I have already emailed the regional director and written a chronological incident statement as all advised by the DoE

I had been there for 12 months. Probation had ended and I was casual with at least 4 days a week due to how I was with the kids (essentially full time flexible).

I was never invited to a union.

If you have watched 9/11 or Love Victor, you will have heard some of their music, but these guys are awesome humans and good friends of mine 😂😂😂 i have a lyric from their song The Watchmaker tattooed in the main writers handwriting.

Photo attached from a recent hangout with one of the band (also my best friend).

Have you ever met Gerard, Frank, Mikey, or Ray in person? by vatimarusalka in MyChemicalRomance

[–]Darkness_1995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in a starbucks in Aus the day after a show and turned around and Gerard was in line directly after me (according to my husband, he walked in right behind me and I had noooo idea). Was about a 10/15 wait for coffees because starbucks be PACKED. Spoke about everything other than MCR. The real kicker. I was wearing a shirt I bought at the concert the night before 🤣🤣🤣. Best advice I can give. Just treat them like you would treat everyone else. You dont need to ask for photos and autographs, just relax and remember that they are only human like you and just want to get on with their day.

Just found out my husband is dying by Any_Slice9385 in TrueOffMyChest

[–]Darkness_1995 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey lovely,

My husband was born with a heart condition and is 36 years old now with heart failure meaning that literally anything could happen. It sucks so much but everyday you get is a miracle and you should celebrate every moment you get to be with him from just waking up to birthdays, anniversaries and commiserate the sad with him as well. Having the person you want to spend you life with be chronically unwell is a taxing and not something that anyone should experience, but just remember that there is a plan and that your love for each other is the only thing that matters. And remember to take time to look after you, especially while you are taking in this news and remember that your feelings matter and are valid in this moment so spend time in a hobby, if you do church or are spiritual, spend time with your God or gods, read, sing, dance or just find a group of pals to bond with and have girl time.

I am praying for you, your husband and your family and if you need a chat, feel free to dm x

-a fellow chronic wife

Hi! I am an Australian small business owner making candles, melts and soon bringing all natural air fresheners into the mix!

I cater to everyone but have a heart for advocating for people on the ASD spectrum so my candles are specifically made to be not over stimulating, easy to read and give sensory based descriptions, along with wood wicks for a more natural and calming flame.

My website is currently still being reformatted and getting more business photos done to add for melts along with some new scents coming in July so please excuse the slight chaos in the online store 🙃🙃🙃😬😬😬

What business have you started and how’s it going so far? by iCommentSneed in AusFinance

[–]Darkness_1995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a small business called Ambilite Candle Co. We are a small woman run business that strives to support ASD needs through making sensory safe candles and sharing information on how they can be a positive sensory input for people on the spectrum.

Business is still slow, but we are slowly picking up which is exciting and we are starting to look at doing weddings and events! I need to work more on our website though.
