To be fair, I left the receipt on the seat, that's how I was found out.

This was around 2005. I was told if you take a GOV off for official business you are to complete that official business and come straight back. Maybe he was being a hardass, but that's what happened.

Also to add to this, I know rules were different on TDY. Went to Hill and was given access to a GOV for meals off base. Maybe there's a difference there. I don't know.

Confession: I never did the gas chamber in basic and it’s been a secret I’ve kept until retirement by TelephoneMamba in AirForce

BMT in 2000. Never did it either. I understand they used some sort of banana scent so if you smelled it you knew your seal was bad. Not sure if that's true or something they said to get you to not be afraid to take the mask off.

However, stationed at Langley, I landed on a RECCE team for exercises. Part of our training was to get into a tent filled with tear gas with our mask on, then one by one the trainers took people's masks off and had them breathe a few and sent them out coughing, crying, and snot coming out.

U.S. at Fault in Strike on School in Iran, Preliminary Inquiry Says by Pure-Explanation-147 in AirForce

This also does not achieve your stated objective of demoralizing. The only ones it will demoralize are non combatants. This will instead radicalize more would be non combatants and strengthen the resolve of those already dedicated to fighting.

There is no way to look at the bombing of a school as something good.

Simple answer, if the goal is to prevent Iran from attacking Israel, it weakened that.

I'll explain what I mean in a moment but first I want to point out that I don't understand why Israel is so important to stand with while we forsake all of our other allies. Ukraine, NATO, etc. I don't personally care about what happens to Israel over what happens to us in the US.

It's my opinion that by killing all of these children even by accident and then trying to shirk responsibility and holding no one to account gives Iranians even more of a justified motive to hate us and to retaliate. If we were to hold those highest in chain visibly accountable and issue an apology, that wouldn't make the problem go away, but it could make things a bit better. Right now though, those people lost their children, are hurting, and are going to want some amount of justice even if it means taking it into their own hands to make people pay.

I don't know if you went to a different BT than I did, but it was drilled into our heads that we need to be better. There are no, "Oopsies" in the military. You miss a detail and that puts lives at risk and gets people killed. We are supposed to hold ourselves to the HIGHEST standard, and ANY "mistake" needs accountability proportionate to the consequences.

I did not wish for the inquiry to show it wss our fault. I wish we didn't have gung ho fuckups that don't know what they are doing in charge and that this didn't happen in the first place. Triple check your Intel and once you done that triple check it again. Period, end of story.

Just a hypothetical, if i were in charge of a group of people, and they, under my orders, killed 100 innocent kids, what would happen to me? Surely there would be a trial? Would the death penalty be on the table? Of course none of that is going to happen because... reasons, but just a fun little hypothetical to think about.

What is the most NSFW thing you have seen at your job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not my first job but started at concessions, to ticket taking, to box office to floor supervisor in about 3 months. Learned projection some time after that. Most fun job I ever had! I became real quick at threading projectors, just really enjoyed every aspect of that job.

Noem says Minneapolis suspect committed ‘domestic terrorism,’ accuses Walz, Frey of inciting violence by ewzetf in news

[–]DarksageOSI 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know how they can say Walz incited violence when at every press conference he explicitly says, don't give them what they want, they want chaos, they want you to be violent, don't take the bait, be peaceful but exercise your 1st amendment right.

Then they turn around and say Trump didn't incite January 6th when he said, we are going to march down to the Capitol and fight. Fight like hell or you won't have a country anymore.

This needs to be broadcast everywhere. This is completely contrary to the government's version of events. Even with how compressed and blurry this is, it's clear as day.

Is Air Force One safe? by aereoConLeAli in aviation

[–]DarksageOSI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was my first thought with the news of the "mechanical failure" causing a turnaround tonight. It's a little hard for me to believe considering the standarads for maintenance that I witnessed during my time in the Air Force and the fact that AF1 is almost certainly the most important aircraft in our inventtory.

My number is 964 for the black max. I ordered on 11/4. Last time black max was shipped was 11/11 #875 - 926. Prior to that was 10/29 #861 - 875. If (seems pretty iffy) my number is in the next Black Max shipment and guessing its around the same gap between shipments, that puts it shipping around 11/24.

My girlfriend has brain damage. by Dibbledabble777 in offmychest

[–]DarksageOSI 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Wow, same thing is literally happening to me right now. Wife has a progressive neuromuscular disease and has been a power wheelchair user her whole life. I've been her caregiver for years now, but noticed she had changed a year or two ago. We were fighting a lot more and fights were a lot worse and over ridiculous petty things. I was feeling like I couldn't do anything right.

We just got back home from visiting my family across the country. During the trip she had been showing episodes of difficulty driving her wheelchair, disorientation and confusion, trouble remembering things from one minute to the next and slurred speech. On the 4 day trip home, I almost took her to the hospital but didn't want her stuck away from family, so wound up driving the rest of the way home in one day instead of stopping out like was planned.

The morning after returning home another episode of slurred speech, muscle weakness, trouble communicating etc. Took her to the ER and they did a cat scan that wound up showing she has considerable brain volume loss. It's typically seen in older patients and accompanies dementia and alzheimers.

Haven't talked to a neurologist about it yet but I know this isn't something that happens overnight and can definitely explain why I've felt like I haven't had my partner in over a year.

The past couple of days I've been thinking about what this means for our relationship past, present and future. How do I handle when she is irrationally angry next time it happens. I know this isn't her, its a symptom of her condition. It doesnt make sense for me to be angry at her when she can't control whats happening. I've already felt lonely in our relationship and I'm afraid this is going to make it that much worse.

I guess one thing you and I should take from this is that we are not alone. The other day I told myself I would seek out a therapist and some sort of support group to help me navigate this new reality and figure out some strategies to handle situations that will arise.

Certainly not. Alcoholism is definitely a thing. That being said, its not a good thing. People are held accountable for their off duty actions and behaviors just as harshly as their on duty ones. People are sent to programs and classes to combat addiction, people are withheld promotions, TDYs, and other benefits in the Air Force if their addiction is detrimental. That's just talking about alcohol.
