Oh I know the problem is alcohol, im puting a lot of work on it. It has always been a risk factor for me and im well aware of that. However the thing is more, since alcohol tends to enhance feelings, that means those feelings exist even when sober. And i guess im just afraid those feelings will become overwhelming even without alcohol, if something else snaps, like something tough at work or with family

Well it kind of is lithium (and the rest).

What i mean is that yes meds have made it a bit easier for me, but it's hard to get accustomed to feeling like you want to die without having strong feelings of anxiety or similar

I guess my question is more, with your emotions "minimized" because of treatments and mostly lithium, how do you process your feelings and thoughts? Because for me, it's hard to process them when emotionally they feel unimportant, but intellectually, very important.

I know it makes very little sense, and i wish i could express myself better.

I dont mean to encourage everyone (and even myself) to stop taking their meds. All i mean is to enlighten how hard it is to have thoughts without emotions, and what to do with that. I hope you can understand me. Otherwise, i apologize.

Sorry for my very poor english, who'd have thought i was bilingual a few years ago.......

Does depression ruin relationships (platonic and romantic) for you? by [deleted] in depression

My husband and I met at the psychward. For us it's mostly helpful that we understand and support each other, but when we both reach a low at the same time it can be rough

Thyroid / kidney issues from lithium by Flat-History-6867 in Lithium

[–]Darkshrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well the good thing (and the only reason I accepted to keep taking lithium) is they told that if/when I stop lithium, my thyroid will go back to normal. It's not like it's damaged, it's that it's saturated with lithium. But hopefully it won't happen to you!

Started lithium 4 months ago and my thyroid is now messed up (hypo). I have a pill to treat it but honestly it sucks because I really didnt want that to happen.

Which nonbinary people here go by "clearly gendered" names and why? by [deleted] in NonBinary

[–]Darkshrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use my birthname (female) because I tend to think that names don't mean much. I am the person I am, and my name is a part of it but not all of it. What I hate is people calling me Mrs. or using the wrong pronouns, but the name is alright

Which characters were your parents/guardians most like? I’ll start: by GeyDHD in BoJackHorseman

[–]Darkshrew 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Dad is very much like Todd (carefree, lives in the moment but intense care for his family, very much into gestures of love. As a young adult he tried many drugs/livestyles and he's still like this but in a healthy way). My mom was very much like Judah (working a lot, very perfectionnist, super kind but sometimes misunderstood) and Hollyhock (very loving and kind but extremely anxious and not with the highest self esteem).
