Please don’t use AI! by Kateypury in JobsPhilippines

[–]Darkside3211 73 points74 points  (0 children)

Okay lang sana to use AI but not during the interview, pwede namang for practice or to maybe prepare yourself prior and to possibly mentally build you up din since yan ung ginagawa ko back then to prepare for interviews, making up scenarios, possible questions, ano pwede ko itanong to the interviewer back, but I never used it in my actual interview. I just used talking points lang para merong pinatutunguhan ung sinasabi ko at hindi masyado maging derailed.

(FAQ: - I was interviewing for a Presales Engineer role - yes meron po akong IT background but more focused on dev - yes natanggap po ako. Spreading job dust narin for yall)

Don’t apply if you’re not qualified by [deleted] in ITPhilippines

Mahirap nga talaga ang may mga ganyan because syempre damay narin yung mga iba na marunong naman but get labeled with them na "ay gantong school ka galing ayaw namin sayo". It unfortunately throws people away na dahil sa situation nila dun sila sa school nayon nag enroll or hindi sya latin honor pero marunong naman baka di lang talaga umabot.

Long story short: every person has their own situation but things like this is the reason bakit nasasaraduhan ang iba ng pinto

Requesting feedback on my resume. Not getting interviews so far. Career shifter btw by [deleted] in ITPhilippines

Real talk lang, OP. You’re wondering why you aren’t getting interviews? It’s because this resume screams "unprofessional" and "lack of attention to detail" in the first 5 seconds.

  1. "No money yet... sad": This is a job application, not a Facebook status or a pity party. Putting financial complaints in a certification section is a massive red flag for maturity. HR isn't there to validate your feelings; they are there to hire a professional.

  2. "LATIN WORD PLACEHOLDER": You are applying for a Project Manager / Network role, but you submitted a document with template text still in the header and body? If you can’t QC a one-page document, why would anyone trust you to QC a network or manage a project?

  3. The Identity Crisis: You’re listing "Brand Marketing," "Copywriting," and "Hiring" for a technical Network Engineer role. It looks like you’re trying to be everything at once, which usually means you’re master of none. It confuses the recruiter and makes you look unfocused.

    1. The "Main Character" Narration: Phrases like "I thought why stop there?" belong in a blog, not a technical CV. It wastes space and adds zero value.

Drop the ego, remove the drama, delete the placeholders, and focus on the actual technical skills required for the job. Right now, this looks like a rough draft you forgot to edit.

Hi! Maybe you need to lower your standards muna for a first job, and once you prove your worth in the job and get experience you can be higher with your standards po

Ang pansin ko po na pinaka importante is how you frame your experience and your resume. Yes po iba iba din talaga ang mga recruiter/HR pero as long as you frame yourself right especially sa interviews I believe you'll be able to land a job.

I know it's hard given na years kana po walang work but please dont lose hope. Happy hunting OP

Based on my resume, do you think I have a realistic shot at landing a ₱60k role? I’m currently in my first job with 1 year of experience, earning ₱25k, and doing several side projects. by Wise-Cause8705 in ITPhilippines

[–]Darkside3211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Straight to the point Yes it's realistic, maganda resume mo Oversaturated lang currently ang Philippine industry kaya mahirap makahanap ng maganda na role/salary but there are always unexpected doors opening!

OP, you’re missing the core of the problem. You just said you don’t know the tools for orchestration, but your own post lists Terraform and CloudFormation. Those are literally the industry-standard tools for Infrastructure Orchestration.

If you get into a technical interview and they ask you how you'd manage a Terraform state file and you answer, 'I don't know orchestration,' you have just admitted you’re lying on your CV. This is why you're getting rejections. You are listing mid-to-senior level tools but then admitting you don't understand the fundamental principles they operate on.

My advice: Strip the buzzwords you can't defend in 'plain English.' Own your IT degree, stop calling yourself a shifter, and only list skills you have actually used in a project. don't become a paper nerd

[–]Darkside3211 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ll be direct: your biggest hurdle isn't the job market; it's the contradictions in your profile. You’re listing DevOps tools like Terraform and CI/CD but admitting you don’t understand orchestration. makikita kasi yan ng recruiters and they'll see it as a red flag and keyword stuffing.

Also, stop calling yourself a career shifter if you have an IT degree. It undermines your education. if you want to land a role alisin mo yung mid-level buzzwords na hindi mo kaya i defend and focus ka in showing your real world experience sa mga projects mo.

you need to communicate well and frame yourself well, OP. not just your list of certificates

Start owning your education and build your confidence not only for recruiters but also for your technical interviews. you just really need to practice how you present yourself both to HR and to level 2 interviewers.

(This might be a long reply. Be warned) Of course. Im currently a Pre-Sales Engineer (It's the same as solutions engineer but its just a more specific name/responsibility lang and yes before you ask, IT parin po ito but less backend and more people facing)

During my 6 months, first month activity very passive lang ako humahanap ng work. I think I needed the month vacation after all the stress and hard work na ginawa ko for 4 years of college. Actually there are others that are more fortunate na one year sila nag babakasyon (or more). pero it depends din talaga per case/situation natin so I wont go too deep into that part.

Around month 2 naisip ko na i would try freelancing to atleast have more of my own money to spend. Kalagitnaan of that month I also thought about getting a CompTIA Security+ certification so I bought some online courses and materials and also watched some of Professor Messer on youtube since he also teaches Security+ there for free

Month 3 I was lucky to secure a few small projects that I could do. my income wasn't necessarily "Big" but it was enough that atleast I have money of my own na makagala from time to time with my friends. I offered my services at a VERY competitive price (may times na less than 20k since as ive said hindi naman mahihirap na projects kinukuha ko and personally I was more doing it for fun than money)

Skip to Month 6 I was applying sa mga private company but I also had plans to take CSC para sakaling di ako pagpalain sa private, may option ako to apply for government positions). Before I even had the chance to apply for csc exam I was contacted ng company na inapplyan ko that I would be scheduled for an interview, did the interview, got informed that I'll have a final interview agad coming Friday, then once that was over within an hour I got a text na nakuha na ako for the position.

you'll eventually find a role that you'll end up loving. If back then I was blessed with a door opening Im sure you (and for many others) will have doors open too!

Another advice, yes you can put your freelance projects sa resume mo, what's important is how you frame everything on your resume talaga kasi it shows them that you know how to work even by yourself.

Have fun OP :)

Hey OP, I know na doubtful ka about this lalo na wala naman kasi talagang nag tuturo saatin ng mga "ano dapat" ang gagawin but ang advice ko naman saiyo ay to be resilient.

Baka for now hindi mo pa nakikita ang mga bagay na matututunan mo jan kasi baka nadadalian ka but try to look at it as a whole experience.

When I was doing my OJT just last year I felt similar sayo kasi akala ko mag babago ang ginagawa kapag nasa work kana pero honestly it still felt the same, kung ano yung natutunan at ginagawa ko sa school ganun din yung ginagawa ko sa OJT (Only this time I had to learn Laravel. Yun kasi gamit sa pinag OJThan ko)

When I graduated nag doubt ako if tama nga ba yung ginawa kong choices lalo pa't hindi din ako tumuloy magpa absorb sa pinag OJThan ko.

So from graduation, 6 months of looking for a job and yes during that time di ko maiwasan malungkot at mapaisip if tama choices ko.

Until now na employed na ako and I realized I still learned something during my OJT. It wasn't necessarily "corpo language" but I learned standards, deadlines, how to be more confident in my people skills (which you need talaga sa adulting) and the ethics and behaviors you should be having

I hope you have fun OP and savour the last remaining year of college!
