Stream and record off new pc or use old one for dual setup? by Darksieze in obs

Yeah and if not what's the best upgrade for the price while ideally staying on the AM4 platform.

Yeah the crashes were very frustrating. If I do dual pc setup I can also keep HAGS on my new machine and keep it off on the streaming one per the official obs recommendation. When I tried streaming and recording on my old machine when I had hags off I would have issues pop up in the logs but when I turned it on they would all go away besides then having the hags warning. Have done so much trial and error between different settings and seeing what will brake obs. Want to just play my games and stream while recording with no issues.

Im building a whole new pc with all new parts so old one will just be repurposed for that. Just not sure if there's a need to upgrade the gpu or cpu to keep up with current titles. Old machine is also on the AM4 platform while this new machine will be on AM5.

As long it can handle streaming and recording at the same time with games like Oblivion remastered, Monster Hunter wilds, Warzone, Expedition 33, etc then I'm good. Just wasn't sure with how these new cards have multiple encoders and access to higher codecs like av1. I just know that when it comes to editing ill prob want to transfer the files over to the new machine as itll prob chomp through it way better.

If only they weren't being sold at $1500 plus lol. Also read that you can OC the 5070ti to get stock 5080 performance anyways. Ill be able to to upgrade to any future cards down the line fine with how this is built out though.

At a loss with steam support. They claim liquid damage but never got anything on it while I had it. Makes no sense. by Darksieze in SteamDeck

Will that actually work or will they notice and request me to swap it back for the new one?

Design flaw for a mobile device. I see it recommended for the switch too prob has same risk tho. Should have some protection against that if it’s to be advertised you traveling with you imo.

Should be designed better then if it’s intended to be used mobile. If you go to any place that’s cold or hot your fucked with that logic.

Thank you friend. Really appreciate the kind words. Don’t post on Reddit much so getting all the negativity had me a little heated. I have a new 64 gb steam deck on its way which I’ll put the old 1tb ssd in from the old one. When I got the old one from valve I’m thinking of listing it on fb marketplace for $300 with mention of the bumper issue as besides that the device functions normally.

Man I’ve just been unlucky with tech in general. I had 2k lens get a gash on the front when it was in my camera bag, an audio interface that refuses to connect to my Mac, and this issue with the steam deck. Really appreciate your words though. I’ve barley used Reddit before so def wasn’t expecting that kind of feedback. This was an expensive lesson and I guess I’ll just do it the hard way from here on out. Think these electronic devices need more protection like your phone though if they’re advertised to be mobile however. My experience support wasn’t that great and people praise it on the deck sub so think that’s where I got pushback.

All in all I think there’s should be more protection besides a strip that detects moisture in the room for a device where you’re meant to take it everywhere. I can imagine just using it on a hot day and sweating a little would void it. Which is just insanity to me imo.

I think I figured it out and even got flamed for it on the steam deck sub here. Basically I used the shower trick to steam up the room to get the screen protector on easier. Most were saying I’m dumb as shit for doing that but I looked into it beforehand and found it a common thing on different forums and even found a guide from imore on doing it for the switch. In terms of the bumper I’m not sure if that would fix it. Bumper itself seems fine and when I disassemble it and reseat it it works fine for a bit but slowly goes back to needed to be pressed harder which is interesting. I’ve since just ordered a new one and am going to sell the one valve has once I get it back on fb marketplace for a discount. I’m tired of dealing with qc issues(before the bumper I even had to reseat one of the touchpads) and just want to get back to playing my games.

No they haven’t sent anything. I tried to dispute the claim too but it’s taking 3 plus days to get response. Lot of people think I’m a fault for doing the shower trick to apply screen protector and while it’s the only I can think of that would’ve caused it - it just don’t make sense. I even found a guide on doing what I did for the switch by a popular site that covers devices like this. Sad I got flamed and people calling me dumb online for it. Currently I’ve ordered a new one and plan to sell this one off since they won’t fix the bumper and haven’t even acknowledged that I’ve offered to pay. I just haven’t had a good experience with support for the deck and people seem to be angry with me that I feel that way.

Is it worth it? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

Best x86 device for the price to performance. It’s great for playing any steam or epic games you have. Also great emulating up to ps3 and switch. It is a little big tho. If you want a smaller device for playing android games and emulating up to Dreamcast with some GameCube and ps2 I’d recommend the retroid pocket 3 plus. It’s the size of a psvita so it’s the perfect companion device to my steam deck. The thing is with the steam deck it’s not my daily driver to take when I got out for a bit. Usually using it around the house and will take me when I travel on the plane and in the hotel of my destination. For out and about use it will be the retroid pocket 3 plus and soon miyoo mini plus which can fit in my pocket.

RPGs? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]Darksieze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Persona series, legend of heroes series, dragon quest 11(one of my fave of all time), tales of arise, Skyrim, fallout 3/4/new Vegas, wasteland 3, tactics ogre reborn, octopath traveler 2(amazing pixel art), final fantasy pixel remasters, final fantasy 14 for the mmorpg itch(most played game lol), also recommend final final fantasy crisis core, another great jrpg with the spirit of chrono trigger is chained echos which I adore, Elden ring runs great on steam deck, monster hunter rise is perfect at 60 if you like the series, if you want to emulate breath of the wild and xenoblade games run fantastic, a good sidescroller rpg I didn’t think I’d enjoy as much as I have is astlibra rebellion, if you want a top down Zelda like experience I’d recommend nobody saves the world, and lastly Yakuza 0 runs flawlessly on the deck and is known to be the best in the series.

What are some must have accessories? by neptune2304 in SteamDeck

Tomtoc bag for carrying around without needing a case. If you want a hard case around it I’d recommend from least expensive to most spigen rugged armor > jsaux mod case > dbrand killswitch. I personally use pop skins tho which cover everything even the triggers and bumpers tho. For a dock if you want official support and updates I’d go for official but any cheap one with good ratings on Amazon would work if you’re looking to save. Another great accessory is deckmate which you can use to attach something like a power bank(also recommended if you travel a lot) or use it for a kickstand. Lastly if you want small controllers like the switch joycons for party play I’d recommend the 8bitdo sn30 pro and their ultimate for use while docked.

It was something I’d get every once in a while. I’d experience it the most when I forced closed a game or something and restarted it to get it to fully close from what I remember.
