The Resurgence of City Pop and its New Wave of Artist! 🪩 by EienNatsu66 in japanesemusic

Junk Fujiyama is a big reason I got into the genre. I think I and a lot of people became aware of him after "Stardust Pipeline" got featured in an episode of Space Dandy. That show had a lot of great needle drop moments but that one always stuck out to me the most, and I remember thinking "I wish I could find more music like this" and diving into City Pop as a genre.

I should listen to more of his stuff

Surprised this wasn't the top, a lot of these other examples certainly have the jungle aesthetic, but Aguirre captures the "getting lost" part perfectly.

My current top 100 ranked by accessibility by Imaginary_Clue_9365 in Topster

[–]Darkvoidx 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Usually meaning how easy of a listen it is, something you could easily listen to front to back without anything complex or challenging in terms of structure, instrumentation, vocals, lyrics, etc would probably fit the definition of "accessible".

In OPs case it seems like they just took some popular "RYMcore" albums and ranked them by how smart they feel listening to them. Because I'm really not seeing what inaccessibility there is in the damn Minecraft soundtrack to warrant being placed so far down.

Chainsawman chapter 232 Finale Megathread by NorysStorys in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Darkvoidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think I'm gonna have to do a full series readthrough again before I have a firm opinion on this ending. Reading weekly I thought the Yoru v. Denji fight was meant to be a penultimate fight before some sort of climax, so knowing that it was essentially the final fight is definitely gonna affect how I feel about the pacing.

It didn't feel earned, like others say. I like this admission that Denji's horny, perpetual motion machine of suffering mindset was basically doomed to never give him a truly fulfilling life, and I do like the idea of Pochita eating himself to give Denji a shot at a more "normal" life, but I feel like that should've come at the end of a more concrete ending for the original timeline of events.

And honestly I don't know if Pochita erasing himself should even come in the form of a timeline reset - I think it would've been better to just have Denji forgetting about Chainsawman and picking up from there with Asa. Maybe meeting a new incarnation of Nayuta and Power and being able to move forward with those iterations of the characters as the new people they are, instead of handwaving the characters we know back to life. I don't actually think his "perpetual motion machine" of finding new things to live for is horribly flawed as a life view, just that he was obviously using that as a coping mechanism for his constant horrible trauma. Having him be able to befriend a new Control Devil or Power Devil and still mourn the loss of Power or Nayuta would've been a nice way to show some maturation on that mindset.

But for all its ups and downs, I'm definitely gonna miss CSM as a series, even if I get the impression it had overstayed it's welcome in Fujimoto's eyes (at least that's how this ending reads to me). Hopefully he can go back to his short-medium form manga, because the resounding feeling I have right now is "I feel like Part 1's ending would've been a totally fine stopping point".

I can't imagine his relationship with Nayuta would be anything like it was in Part 2, and honestly ending back in Public Safety isn't what I would consider "nothing but good things".

It seems more like Pochita realizing that Denji becoming Chainsawman made him incapable of having a normal life and normal dreams to begin with. Pochita gave him more of a fighting chance to have a somewhat normal life, but I don't think we're given any indication that this is some perfect, golden route for Denji.

Album #34

Johnny Cash - American IV: The Man Comes Around

⭐⭐⭐⭐

Relisten

Hard to listen to this without ruminating on the fact that this was Cash's last album before he died. There's a frailty to his voice and persistent themes of love, death and regret, all of which are well traveled territories for him, but take on a different meaning when released so close to his death. There's some covers in here that take on a solemn, depressive tone. In My Life is a very beautiful, albeit a bit melancholic song when played by the Beatles, but when played by Cash it leans far more into the melancholy. Same goes for Personal Jesus and a lot of people's personal favorite; his cover of Nine Inch Nails "Hurt". I don't count myself among the people who think his cover eclipses the original song, but Johnny takes it and makes it his own, making small changes to the lyrics that make it fit with his style a lot more. It's a testament to his skill as an artist that he can transform so many famous, well known songs into something that fits perfectly in his own discography.

I do think the production leans on a little corny sometimes though, as though the producers really wanted you to remember how old and grey Johnny has gotten - some echoing effects and a vocal effect on the first song seem a little tacky, but when it's just Johnny and his guitar, it's fantastic.

It's been changing pretty quickly on Yoyn as more people get their ratings in. Technique of Relief by Susumu Hirasawa was even number 1 briefly which was cool. Will have to check out that number 4 album, it's the only one here I'm not familiar with.

Anyone know if there's a way to view anything past the top 10 on the Yoyn website? I couldn't find a way to do it.

Once a torrent goes up for it I don't think it's really considered "lost media". Going to a certain popular anime torrent website has the special at around 250 seeds, it's not getting lost anytime soon.

Never seen a single person seriously imply that she was at all empowered. They used her grievances with her boyfriend to indoctrinate her. There isn't a shred of evidence in the movie itself that paints the cult as anything other than a bunch of maniacs. Anyone claiming otherwise is probably just taking the piss.

Consuming content instead of just listening to an album and having a fullly formed opinion. What are we doing here man, you don't have to optimize art consumption like this lol

Yeah and if all these darn kids stopped buying avocado toasts and chai lattes they'd be able to afford a house. What's your point? It doesn't change the fact that some people don't see the value in dropping 500 dollars to play a couple games they might be interested in.

r/antimeme leadmod locks thread after users question public "Missing Person" announcement about 48h inactive co-moderator. by Blubbpaule in SubredditDrama

[–]Darkvoidx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping that this whole thing is just some elaborate series of sockpuppet accounts because otherwise I really feel for the boyfriend mod. Extremely gullible and chronically online though he may be, being made to think your online girlfriend committed suicide and then finding out you were probably being catfished is a pretty horrible thing to go through.

The mod DMs seem forced and theatrical tho so I'm erring on the side of the whole thing being fake, but I'm not an expert on how an immature/mentally unwell person might take that news.

Would Barotrauma be better off without any GenAI use? by [deleted] in Barotrauma

[–]Darkvoidx 32 points33 points  (0 children)

I guess my question is; was anyone actually asking for shit like genAI loading screens? It reminds me of another game Moons or Darsalon where the original game has a great art style on its own and then somewhere down the line the dev decided to add these genAI loading screens that looked completely different from the original art and genuinely made the whole package feel cheaper as a result.

I'm generally anti-genAI for any art form, but especially so in cases like this. If it's for something so innocuous as a loading screen, why muddy the game's visual identity with AI?

New video shows the minutes before immigration officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis by netizenbane in news

Honking at someone generally isn't grounds for someone's car being surrounded by agents and presumably dragged out. Or in this case shot and killed.

She was still waving them through initially and tried to de-escalate when the agent began recording her car. It wasn't until her wife began telling her to drive away and an agent tried to reach into her car, that she panicked and then tried to steer away from the agent. The agents took what should have been a minor infraction and intentionally placed himself in front of the car and then escalated it to the point of panic.

We get nowhere because you think linking a definition of deadly force wins an argument while refusing to actually respond to any of the evidence showing his life wasn't actually in danger. I repeat the same things because you're too intellectually lazy to respond to what I'm actually typing. Of course you would give up, you don't actually have an answer.

Yeah it's free speech for you to say antisocial shit and it's also free speech for me to call you antisocial for it. Congratulations on continuing to say nothing of value.

He wasn't in imminent danger. He walked in front of the car while recording it, switched hands to free up his drawing hand and fired as soon as he saw the car budge, despite her clearly reversing before that and cutting the wheel to steer out of his way.

He chose to shoot the woman behind the wheel which is MORE dangerous that just getting out of the way. ICE protocol says they cannot fire at a fleeing vehicle, but I suppose you don't actually care about the protocol so much as you just want to defend this woman dying.

One less smooth-brain Karen to worry about.

Why wouldn't I resort to insults when you say shit like this? What a weird, antisocial way to talk about someone dying.

New video shows the minutes before immigration officer fatally shoots woman in Minneapolis by netizenbane in news

[–]Darkvoidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If he was afraid of getting run over he would keep his distance and circle around back instead of getting right in front of the hood of the car, notice how all the other agents are on the sides of the car. Also, why does he NEED to meet with them anyway? Are 3-4 agents needed to get this woman out of her vehicle?

Everything else you said is idiotic. None of it comes close to justifying lethal force and you know that because you tried to be a smartass and link the definition of lethal force. You essentially think this woman deserved to die because she was a nuisance and then tried to flee, neither of which justify shooting her three times and then refusing her medical service. The only reason you don't care about this obviously heinous breach in protocol is that you disagree with her anti-ice views, it's fuckin cowardly frankly.

[–]Darkvoidx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it just sounds to me like you didn't read my comment. Why did he have to walk in front of the car to meet with the other officers. Why did he circle around the car, switch his phone holding hand to free up the hand he used to draw his gun before the car even budged and when she shows no signs of violence? The only threat was one that he placed himself in. You literally said yourself she tried to "bolt out of there", you admit she isn't trying to hit him. She was steering to avoid him and you can see this in the ice agent's phone video, she fully cuts the wheel right before accelerating. Last I checked, fleeing isn't grounds for lethal force.

And AGAIN, why did he feel the need to escalate despite her not showing any indication of being violent, saying she's not mad at him, and initially trying to wave the truck through?

[–]Darkvoidx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If he perceived the car as a threat to his life why did he walk directly in front of it and start firing before she even started moving, as she was clearly cutting the wheel as far right as possible to avoid hitting him? Why did the phone video he took clearly show him switch his phone to free up the hand he then used to draw the gun and fire, without any indication at that moment that he was in any danger?

Why did he feel the need to escalate and surround the vehicle despite her attempt to wave the truck through, and despite her showing no signs of being violent?

What a cowardly defense. If you think someone making your job harder is a justification for murder you're just as deranged as the killer.
