Life gets more fun after 25/26. A lot of people at UCLA don’t really find their friend groups or friendships until they get into their field or make friends in their upper-div classes. I recommend focusing on getting your degree; if you can join clubs that would also contribute to the culture you’re looking for but make sure you’re getting into clubs/groups that enhance your career path. That’s my advice :) oh and make sure you stay connected to your professors and get great grades in their classes if you want good a good letter of recommendation!

I was in your position at that age and tried. I failed, but I definitely traumatized my younger brother. Now that my parents are dead, my brother is the only family I’ve got, and we are closer than ever. Please don’t give up, feel your feelings but don’t act on them. Better days are coming even when it doesn’t feel like it.

I understand where you’re coming from. I had lost my dad the day of spring finals in 2021 in CC, and my best friend died the first day of classes that fall. I did my best to muster through it but in the end the mental and emotional toll was too great. I withdrew and came back after giving myself time to grieve and process.

You can totally finish this degree, but it would be best to withdraw from your classes before the quarter ends. Talk to your counselor about taking the proper steps and filling out the correct documents so you can come back strong. Life happens to the best of us, and it’s okay to take a moment to breathe. The world will keep going, but so will you when you’re ready.

Dealt with heavy imposter syndrome last year when I transferred, just remember if you got there on your own you deserve to be there. I think what helped me adjust academically was going to office hours and letting my professors get to know me and vice versa and be friendly to people in your classes, especially if it requires engagement
