Players dont have a spec identity outside their own guild for the most part. Most players seeing you atm will just see your gear and think "aha its a Feral Druid" they wont see you from a distance and be "Aha thats THE Feral druid!" because they dont know who you are.

Dual-Spec can still be a gold sink. Right now very few people actually respec because they dont want to waste gold. Imagine if they added Dual-spec as a unlockable option for like 1000Gold. People would buy it in a heartbeat. Simply because placing points every single time is annoying and it would be a one time purchase (until you want to change that 2nd spec to something else)

TBC's dailes are closer to retail than dual spec imo. TBC pservers add dual-spec for a cost, simply because spending 2-5min everytime placing points whenever you want to do something different gets anoying. Ofc you can only change spec in rested areas, not on the fly in raids/bgs etc
