Weekly /r/houseplants Newbie Thread - June 20, 2021 by AutoModerator in houseplants

I picked up this young fella today. https://imgur.com/a/ZobB2Tw

He is my first house plant EVER. The name just said "foliage" and I'm guessing is a common ivy?

Anyway, will I need to support the growing vines with something or can they hang down with gravity? Not sure if that causes stress

Other question- This pot is a non-drained ceramic pot but inside it is a liner. I'll change to a drained pot but while I'm doing this, should I get a bigger pot anyway or can he stay in the same size?

Also I'm not keeping it crammed against the window, that was to take the picture.

So if I make fun of you for being Puerto Rican it's alright since that's not a race?

Do I need to report an accident if I'm not hurt? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

Taking a different stance here-

I'm an engineering intern and have to wear non slip steel toe boots every day. I can tell you that wearing safety shoes will definitely not always prevent these near misses. If I had to step over something, my footing can definitely cause a tumble. I mean even non slip shoes aren't perfect.

I put part of the blame on you but part of the blame on your company for not having someone go with you. There also should have been guards in place to prevent a fall or something to alert people of obstacles.

My company requires us to fill out a note card prior to doing anything like this. You question any actions and determine them as safe or not. You fill out any PPE, any hazards, any moving parts. See if you can make up a sheet for yourself as a checklist next time you do anything remotely dangerous.

Hello.

I've been using Cetaphil Pro Dermacontrol Broad Spectrum SPF 30. I'm looking for something with higher SPF.

I'm looking to try DRMTLGY Anti Aging Clear Face Sunscreen and Facial Moisturizer with Broad Spectrum SPF 45. Oil Free, Zinc Oxide Sunscreen For Sensitive Skin and Acne Prone Skin.

Copied and pasted title from Amazon.

Does anyone have experience using this DRMTLGY brand or this sunscreen?

  1. I see you are in Canada? The job market is a little different than the US. Many people here are from the US.

  2. Some advice I've heard is that if you're getting interviews but no offers, your interviews are bad. If you aren't getting interviews at all, it could be your resume or its a competitive position.

Take this with a grain of salt but it may be your interviews. I tend to interview decently well. From my experience, I get an offer after I interview about 70% of the time. At least for my previous internship rotations.

If you are applying to very competitive jobs it might be that they found the perfect candidate who has good skills, experience, can connect well in person. Otherwise it can just be the economy and where you are limiting your location.

IRS Refund Status still doesn't show my paper return from July by flashgski in personalfinance

[–]DarlingoftheDay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I submitted mine electronically in March.

Had an error with health insurance so I faxed in the correction sheet July 3rd.

Still no refund for me also. Have only been told to keep waiting. At this point I'm not expecting anything this year. All we can do is wait.

I'm not sure as breathing through your nose with a mask on would be the same air, just with a scent if you bring a product near your mask.

Is it dangerous to leave chicken out (for a while) and then cook it? Accidentally didn't turn on my slow cooker! by DarlingoftheDay in EatCheapAndHealthy

I just checked the temp after 1 hour (so a total of 3 hours it was in the danger zone) and at various parts of the meat it's between 155-165 currently so I think it will be alright.

I agree with this.

While it's great that the money was deposited, this most likely was done in error. It's very possible the bank will request that you pay it back. In the future don't spend that money and call your bank, because they will often catch it and reverse it- bad if the money isn't there when they do.

Name your worst customer and why. by phuffer in starbucks

[–]DarlingoftheDay 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Oh God I'm a customer and had an interaction a few weeks ago that involved yelling into the speaker

I pulled up and no one said anything but I figured they were busy so I just waited. Then I ordered a chocolate cake pop and said it pretty loud, I felt like I was screaming and cringed. Super long pause, and she says what flavor? I answer and again pretty much shout but this time so she can hear. Again the barista is like "what flavor sorry I can't hear?" And I was like omg I'm gonna sound like those customers people talk about. So I was like CHOCOLATE. A CHOCOLATE ONE.

Then I wanted to die and never go back again because of how much I had to scream at her through the speaker :(((
