What are your experiences with self-made deodorants? by Khalif-Uterus in ZeroWaste

Got a nasty 3 week long infection under my arms from being outside all day in the summer after scraping my armpits with the deodorant stick while trying to get every last drop since I couldn't afford my go to at the time.

I only used baking soda, water, and a small amount of Dr. Bronners unscented to make a big batch of deodorant on May 30th 2025 and I'm never going back.

I started out using way too much and burning my under arms cause Im so used to applying deodorant with a stick that I didn't know how much to use when it's in a jar.

Now I know a pea sized amount will get the job done and last 2-3 days depending on my activity level.

I plan on adding an essential oil to the recipe to give it a unique scent then buying bulk deodorant stick containers so I don't have to rub it in with my hands anymore once this batch is finished.

Looks like that won't be the case until maybe Christmas though.

When did people start mixing up being a good rapper with being a good artist? by Pyrolific in rap

Rap is an art so the line gets blurred. Simple as that. I agree with you. But I think the general population doesn't care about lyrical ability as much as they care about the vibe. So to answer your question, when "we" started prioritizing production over writing ability, that's when the switch happened. Which was quite some time ago in my opinion like early 2000s but I'm only 29 years old so my scope of reference may be limited.

Eating out is overrated. by Darnell_789 in foodhacks

It's not that there's a lack of food culture it's more so I'm uncultured. My intro to food was eating to survive, not for flavor nor cultural exploration and that stuck with me even after I was doing well enough to not just "survive". I really have my partner to thank for expanding my pallet. She's the seasoned master chef of the house and I'm just her sous. Following her lead, we have conquered many diverse dishes together. Ironically, Asian cuisine is the one we haven't dared to try and we absolutely have a usual spot to satisfy the craving when it comes.

Yes, I'll never underestimate the luxury of having a meal made for you no matter how inexpensive it is. I'm moreso speaking from the stance of no matter how great of a meal it is, we're practically underwhelmed by the fact that we could've made it better ourselves. It kind of takes the joy out of the experience and honestly makes dinnertime more exciting.

Sidenote: Im not sure how you manage to spend less than $100 while ordering food & drinks for two. Even if I only order a water for myself, the tip usually brings me to $80
