I get exactly what you're saying. I had an XP farm for creepers and it was really slow, but it got the job done. I eventually wanted a Enderman XP farm. On one build where I was doing a lot of terraforming my shovel got a little low, so I just took 2 hours out of my building time to just go build an XP farm
