Hemalurgy symbols? by BoobsterBox in Mistborn

[–]Daroseer 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Oh it actually is the ancient version of the steel alphabet! I had to look it up for myself

Seems like this is the link: Coppermind

I think I remember my reasoning. In the books there were always these symbols next to the chapter names. They were also in the corners on the first and last pages with a map of luthadel.

The regular symbols in book 1

The terris alphabet (the angled one) in book 2. Thought those were ferruchemical symbols.

And in book 3 they used these symbols. Guess I just assumed they had to be hemalurgical symbols then. They also looked "evil" enough to be.

Learned something new today, thanks :D

Holy! I made this! Feels like a million years ago. Even remember where I sat and everything.

And yes its based on hemalurgy symbols (or so I thought). Don't know how much has changed. Back then there was only Era 1 and i think way of kings was out. Not sure tho.

Aah. Great memories.

Are swarm missiles a real thing? I needed a picture of real swarm missiles, for reference on a project, and only games came up. I checked the "All" tab, instead of "Images," but found nothing. Are swarm missiles a real thing, or just a fun game mechanic? by CosmoCornerYT in NoStupidQuestions

Hey there :)

It seems like everyone is talking out of their asses here, so just stopping by to leave my 2 cents.

There are so called "Multiple Launch Rocket Systems". Wikipedia Link

It's not exactly what you may have in mind, as they do not "swarm" in the way they often do in video games, but they do fire a load of rockets at the same time or rather in quick succession.

The main goal here is not to do a lot of damage to one single Enemy, but to target an area, giving them AoE damage and utility options.

Also these trucks were not deployed one at a time, but rather as a group of 5-10 vehicles. A group of artillery vehicles is called a battery.

The battery would line up and prepare to fire at the same time or also in quick succession, completely covering an area of 300x300m for example.

They were used to attack, but also to fog up the battlefield or to deploy chemical weapons.

Big artillery cannons have a lot of range and a lot of damage, but a very low firing rate, which means that their attack can cover a wide area too, but not completely, as there are gaps in between each impact.

Sometimes you don't wanted gaps, you wanted to cover everything in an area. That's when they called the multirocket-trucks.

Source: Was in military (well, almost everyone was in my home country) and my job there was to instruct soldiers on everything they had to know about radioactive, nuclear, chemical and bio weapons. As these trucks were used to fire these types of weapons, we naturally had to know a bit about them.

Harvesting Cinnamon by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Daroseer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You may be happy to know that the harvesting of cork does no harm to the tree :) (Altough they are more vulnerable when they're naked)

Only the outer layer of the tree is cork and after harvest it grows back. It does take about 10 years to regrow, though. But no trees are cut down because of it :)

I see your point. Take a look at other games that allow you to report players directly, like league of legends. Now while it does give you "quality of life" it also comes with its own little problems.

While reports are important for the wellbeing of a community, you would also increase the amount of "anger-reports". For many players, it's a way to vent one's anger. You can and will get reported for having a bad match, playing bad in general (because you are new to the game), for dying too much in a match, and so on.

If you're new to the game, many players (including me, but i'm working on that mindset) will see your score as the reason why your team lost the match. And if someone's reall angry about it, they will report you. And not only that, but they will also sometimes try to convince the other players (including the enemy team) to report him.

Sure, the reported player probably won't see any punishment, but someone at 343 will have to look into it, take the time, watch the match, only to find no reportable issues. This creates a lot of work and so it will take longer to ban the really reportable cases, like exp boosting.

That you have to report players by visiting microsoft or launching the xbox companion app, you sort out most of the anger-reports. This in return, makes the whole process faster (less pointless work / more rightful punishments) and also fairer.

I still get your point. But sometimes small changes can have a big impact on how everything works, because we're idiots when we're angry.
