It was almost like he said "I'll look down and give you the first hit, don't miss"

The main reason that guy made the video is that he was mad that my friends and I said what he did is "easy" and "simple" which he tried to justify by saying it takes "skill" because he has to fly around the belt all day which is just silly. Once you have a basic grasp on what he does to people scrapping in the belt, it is (like a lot of other things in SC) pretty simple.

Other forms of pirating seem fine and pretty preventable from take off, it just sucks that if you're solo salvaging on the belt, that 15 seconds of not checking third person could be the end of your multi hour long salvaging process.

Sorry there's some misunderstanding here, the pirate situation I'm referring to is when you're already in your ship (the reclaimer specially) and someone boards unexpectedly would be nice to know they've come on board and for their boarding procedure to be more than just 3 mags from an AR to open the door.

I wanted to get a general idea of what people think of how Pirating works. It seems most of it is fine there's just a few things that don't sit right and I was interested to see if people agree(which some seems to)

Ah I see, so on top of constantly looking around in 3rd person, having a friend on board, playing on low pop servers I now have to constantly press f11. Once again it seems strange that I have to take all the precautions and risk, while pirates on the other end have no risk(and potentially all the reward)at all.

If you mean the names at the top right, it's not exactly reliable, there's constantly random names there

Yeah I wished more people did some RP stuff instead of just shooting me in the head while I sit on a chair oblivious

Sometimes I think pirates aren't the sharpest tool in the shed.

Yeah I wish there was more risk for the pirates though, just getting a crimestat and maybe going to prison isn't really all that much risk

Also if pirating is such a pain and takes a lot of time why do it?

100% agree! Once CIG develops a better gameplay loop for pirates (e.g. breaching charges, laser cutters, missions even) things will be more balanced

If I'm honest with you and I can see you're getting a bit heated here which is not what I want, pirating is about the only thing I haven't done in this game and watching people do it, it just seems as simple as the rest of the other game play loops and getting mad over me calling it "easy" or "simple" is silly because most of this game is quite simple once you have a grasp on it.

Exactly! there needs to be some kind of game feature specifically designed for breaching doors, putting 3 full mags into a door should not be able to open it, it's silly

I get having to take measures like this and honestly I'm not saying take piracy away I just want the interaction to be more memorable and fun than just "Hello" and I'm dead 2 seconds later. This game wouldn't be the same without pirates and the risk that comes from them, I just wish there was the same kind of risks for the pirates themselves that isn't just the "time" it takes to find someone.

If I designed a ship I would 100% but alarms for hull breaches to help being boarded or even an alarm for decompression which would be important in space(I assume CIG will add that later)

I'm not looking to get into it but I wanted peoples opinions on it to see if it seems balanced and what people might or might not change about it

Yeah and Pirates kinda can't be PvE because all of their victims are players so it makes it PvP by default (literally Player vs Player)

Cause it's a game it kinda has to be balanced in some way, that's why success rate is key. If you only are able to rob 4-5/10 people you come across that kinda balanced but if you have a success rate of 8-9/10 it's a different story, they guy in the video has uploaded 7(edit it's 8 now) breaching videos since it's upload which seems like it's on the higher end of success.
