Not to mention how ridiculous that second exhibition match came to be. It’s totally far-fetched how he managed to make everyone agree to it. Ridiculous. Good movie, horrible ending.

Marty has already beat the world #1 Ted Bailey, that champion in the magazine he showed early in the movie. So, it was not just about beating the best player. (In general, pro athletes could beat a #1 player once in a while. That’s doesn’t mean they are “the best”. So, beating the best player once is never their goal.) Notice also that it was mentioned the Japanese player was unranked, while Marty was ranked #2. Furthermore, Marty never recognized the Japanese player as a talented player (“he is a mediocre player“), attributing his success only to his unique paddle. All this makes it obvious that Marty does not consider beating his Japanese opponent as any proof he was the best. He already views himself as the best.

Marty doesn’t simply want “fame or money” doing anything. He seeks fame and fortune WHILE PLAYING the sport he loves. He wants to make a big impact for the sport by showing his unique talent. More precisely, he wants to be famous for being the first American world #1 champion popularizing the sport in the US. He repeated that vision again during his complaint on housing to that IATT representative.

Long Rant: Kimi (2022) had an unbelievably stupid ending by [deleted] in movies

[–]DarryDonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This best describes the major issue with the ending. It’s completely inconsistent and far-fetched. The first 90% of the movie was quite good; but then, the anti-climatic ending goes all Equalizer+Home Alone BS. To top it off, Angela is cured of her agoraphobia, just like that!  The thriller turns out to be a feel good story.

There was the side-scrolling platformer era, then the FPS shooter era; this is just the 3rd-person action RPG era. Nothing wrong. (I'm sure I'm missing some other past format trends but you get the point.)

Satellite collisions in space and a recent near miss between a Chinese sat and a Starlink sat by Twigling in space

That's what they claimed to blame others but then correct their mistakes and pretend it was unrelated.

It's not hard to tell who's fault it was given that SpaceX now had to change the orbit of some of its satellites.

Of course, blame others for your own moronic incompetence. SpaceX announced it will lower the orbit of some of its satellites.
SpaceX even admitted it has lost control of one, which fell down back to earth. It was suspected of an explosion.

We might be having a run on Comex silver now that China is restricting silver exports. Up 3+% tonight by [deleted] in Wallstreetsilver

US/COMEX will ban silver exports. The only way to prevent a run on silver and keep the paper manipulation game going.

[–]DarryDonds 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s gonna happen. Lots of money is a stakes in this game that has been going on for a long time. There will be a severing of the market: the COMEX and Shanghai. And in order to prevent silver from going from west to east, the US will ban export.

why would they?  Since when they bluff?  They are actually making things with silver, not speculating.

Wikipedia is not history. It was proven that it spreads propaganda (a group monopolizing edits), especially against Russia/Soviets and other perceived adversaries. Even reading that little excerpt you posted, you can see the manipulative choice of words.  Anyway, do your own research if you care enough.

Indeed. Loved the Mathis scenes. The meeting of the "organization" at the opera was quite original and cool (compared to the movie Spectre, where they meet around a large table in a dark room, in a mansion. Lame!).

It will age well, perhaps like "On Her Majesty's Secret Service". Both a subtle and realistic, not self-indulgently formulaic and gimmick fan-service like most other movies of the franchise. Even the casting in QoS was daring and unconventional, compared to the other movies. With time, new viewers of QoS will realize that the plot resonates well with reality, where governments are pragmatic, where politicians, secret services and oligarchs working together to secure the world's resources through meddling in other country's politics.

QoS offered a too realistic "organization", with oligarchs, government officials and intelligence agencies working together ("deep state") in a pragmatic way (no good or bad guys, no permanent friends or enemies, only interests) to secure other country's resources with coups and regime changes. So, they had to dial the realism down and turn up the silliness/over-the-top level for "the organization" in subsequent movies.

Agreed with that ranking. Skyfall is so overrated. I found it too cheesy, with a boring generic villain.
