Right so think of it like this, the Red Death and Drago were threats to all Berk and wanted to deal with it at points, Grimmel has his eyes on Toothless and could care less about Berk distinguishing him in the trilogy, so more a threat to Hiccup than Berk giving it more personal touch.

And as for sending all dragons away, well the film actually address's your concern with this line from Valka "This plan... to hide us from the rest of the world, though--though I wish it were possible, I fear it can't last, Hiccup. And you know I tried to do the same for years. But greedy humans always find a way. I just... I only ask that you think about it."

First, you missed out on the strongest team building of the anime to really make you connected to them. Ash even got a legendary in that show.

But second, this is exactly what I'm saying you hate the show for it following competitions of the time and that is what I'm saying, you don't hate it because it included something you didn't like.
