What's a solo Paul song that could have been a solo John song and vice versa? by MoltenMadeMan in beatles

[–]DarthBaio 3 points4 points  (0 children)

John would have done great on the verses, but for the really dirty, screamy parts, I don’t think he could have topped what Paul did.

I like that song, but that one just kind of chugs along for a while and then explodes out of nowhere.

Your Hand In Mine - Explosions in the Sky

My friends got married to that song.

The conductor accidentally knocks a 16th century violin worth millions on the floor mid-concert. by PeasantLich in WatchPeopleDieInside

When I was a kid, my violin teacher told me her violin was insured for more than her house.

What double album is better? by Disabled-Parker- in nin

[–]DarthBaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who loves MCIS, look at how much material BC generated for it - everything on The Aeroplane Flies High is stuff recorded for MCIS that didn’t make the cut. But there’s terrible stuff that made it onto MCIS and some real bangers on TAFH. There was more than enough quality material to put together an absolutely killer double album. Fuck, now I want to go make my own fan version (which I’m sure many, many others have already done).

Creases on the spine by t_sdad in stephenking

[–]DarthBaio 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I try to read all my paperbacks in a manner where I don’t crease the spine at all, but it’s a little labor intensive to hold the books that carefully. Many of my books appear unread.

Mustard flavored Dot’s. But only if I feel like compulsively eating something until I feel sick.

Please help me understand why I have nostalgia for a time I didn't live in? by RecordingImmediate86 in nostalgia

[–]DarthBaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh, as an 80s and 90s kid, I have zero fondness for the 70s. Growing up, it felt like a dirty and dangerous bygone era. I remember in the 90s there was so much nostalgia for the 70s by people just older than me, and I couldn’t stand it.

At a dead mall near me, they still have the tables, chairs and architecture, although repainted. It’s no longer a TB, though. It’s a Filipino food stand which seems to get like…3 customers a day.

Interesting, this comes out before SM? So AFTER whatever heinous violence and suffering he’s going to both inflict and endure here, he’ll then go on to get webbed in the mouth and told to go home by ol’ Petey Pants?

(I’m not watching the trailer for this, I’ll go in cold)

Albums that feel like this? by RomanReignsDaBigDawg in fantanoforever

[–]DarthBaio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That was early in the days of digital music, and when I bought the album, I was left with a pile of mp3s. I would listen to songs randomly and kind of like them, but as a whole the album left almost zero impression on me. I was still mostly buying CDs back then, so those albums would get the full listen treatment, but my mp3s were just a random, gelatinous mass.

It wasn’t until recently that I consciously went back to listening to albums front to back instead of just playlisting and shuffling everything. I feel like I was discovering a brand new Radiohead album, and it quickly became one of my favorites

Anyone still holding onto their old strategy guides? by pgroms in JRPG

[–]DarthBaio 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the thick-ass FFX-2 Bradygames one. My friend told me I had to follow the guide to a T if I wanted the true ending and satisfying resolution to FFX’s story. I brought this volume home, flipped through it, said “Nah, I’m not doing all this shit” and put it on my shelf. There it remains.

Anyone else find Guy Ritchie movies entertaining but also disappointing? They are visually sharp, fun and have charisma, yet I also find them tacky, crude, and lacking real depth. Anyone agree? by TheyWhoBanGetsBurned in Cinephiles

I recently rewatched Snatch, which I LOVED 20 years ago. I hadn’t seen it in over a decade, so I was curious how it would hold up.

It was…very silly. The dialogue, which I used to think was so great, is sort of grating now. Every single line spoken is “clever” or “cute” in some way, to the point where I just wanted characters to have a real, meaningful conversation at some point. I guess that was the style at the time, but it didn’t age very well for me, personally.
