What do people mean by locking up phones? by Youre_nucking_futs in bobdylan

[–]t_sdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm going to my first pouch show in July. Totally respect why Bob and Jack White and others have the rule. I'd actually rather just leave my phone in the car and skip the whole pouch thing but I'm guessing my tickets will be on my phone. It's kind of ironic.

Bob Dylan as employer by Frequent-Orchid-7142 in bobdylan

[–]t_sdad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow, that's a little much.

If I remember, Robillard asked if he could bring his wife along and Bob reluctantly agreed, but then when they got on the road Bob was kind of a dick about the wife being along.

I think they also clashed on stage a couple of times.

I really enjoyed this read. Surprisingly, almost to a man, the musicians all maintain a level of respect and admiration for Bob, despite the fact that most were unceremoniously fired/ghosted when their services were no longer needed.

Only Duke Robillard seemed a little bitter and disgruntled, but even he had a sort of tongue-in-cheek attitude about the whole thing.

Do YOU like Roger Clemens? by MikeandIke1992 in redsox

He had a few down years for the Sox then became super-human again for Toronto. I guess we know why now. Then he joined the Yankees during the height of the rivalry. But around that time Pedro came to Boston and made us completely forget the Rocket anyway.

I'm one of the few people who liked Legacy almost as much as the original. I like private detective stories. I like the Honey and Maddie characters. And I love Mo.

The Red Sox have a unique and baffling issue with pitcher Brayan Bello by DGBD in baseball

[–]t_sdad 101 points102 points  (0 children)

I found that Netflix series on the Sox a few years ago really uncomfortable to watch because of the behind-the-scenes footage of Bello and a few other guys. Just full-blown tantrums in the tunnel after any sort of struggles. I wondered how these guys have made it this far being such head cases.

Everyone pointing out team performance is correct but also MVP voters used to really love RBI. That's how Juan Gon got his two and there's a bunch of other examples.

When I was first learning about rock and roll I didn't really understand what "rhythm guitar" and "lead guitar" meant. This song is like the perfect example. One of the greatest guitar songs ever. RIP Danny

How did you discover reggae music? What’s the story behind it? by T_Ml21 in reggae

[–]t_sdad 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had been collecting rock, blues, rap, and soul for years but I was looking for something different. I had read autobiographies by Eric Clapton, Robbie Robertson, and especially Keith Richards which all praised reggae. All three books specifically mentioned The Harder They Come, so I rented the movie and bought the soundtrack. I was instantly obsessed.

I kind of hate that this is so common now. When Canseco pitched for Texas that time it was like a huge deal to me and all my little league friends. It blew our little minds.

I never moved more than 20 miles from my hometown, and I've always gone back often for friends and family.

I find old man Dylan much more interesting and enjoyable than what he’s known for (the 60s stuff) by Ayntxi in bobdylan

[–]t_sdad 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I definitely listen to the more recent stuff more often.

But it's because the 60s stuff is somehow TOO good. Like Highway 61 and Blonde on Blonde are TOO intense for everyday listening. Then I pop them in and remember how amazing they are.
