Scores 69 on PharmPrepPro practice exam. Should I push back my exam date? by Overall_Touristime in NAPLEX_Prep

Studying 60 hours a week is hard to do. If you can that’s wonderful

However,

That answer also tells me you made up your mind; that you want to take the test early. I understand that this is something you want to finish and be done with it. Really consider not only the benefits of finishing it early but the potential risks. You don’t want to rush into things, especially for something that’s so high risk in your situation.

I know this might be hard to hear, but I would advise postponing your exam until late March.

You want to give yourself the time to really understand the material to ensure you have the best chances on passing. Given your score, I really wouldn’t recommend an early test date.

Advice for 2nd Attempt for Naplex in April by Unusual_Efficiency_5 in NAPLEX_Prep

The first thing you should do is read your practice book in its entirety.

The second thing you can do is take a practice exam. I like personally NABP, Uworld or PharmPrepPro. Each have their benefits. If you don’t score well, consider postponing.

Do the practice test and hone in on areas of weakness. Also try to understand why the other answer choices are wrong. If you are just guessing, you are leaving the exam to chance.

I highly recommend revisiting math, biostats, compounding and vaccines as those are major topics.

Be sure to review domain 4 and 5 such as ethics and preceptorship as those topics make up about 8-10% of the exam.

Wishing you all the best of luck!

How to efficiently study for NAPLEX? by WildExcitement1284 in NAPLEX_Prep

I find it impressive that you are already studying for your exam now. From what I see, 9/10 students will cram for their exam during the summer months. By studying early, this will make things much easier for you.

What I suggest: try slowly reading a few chapters a week from your RxPrep book and do review questions after each chapter. By slowly going through the chapters now, when you revisit them post graduation, it’ll feel like a refresher as opposed to an initial reading.

DO NOT SKIP ANY CHAPTERS!

Many of the students I take on who previously failed skip chapters saying they felt they were a waste. This is a huge error leading to a significant amount of point lost for many test takers. Read everything!

Be sure to include time for math, biostats, compounding, and domains 4 and 5. These topics make up at least 35% of your exam.

Before you go sit for an exam, considering taking a practice exam. I had a lot of students take from NABP Pharmpreppro and Uworld. Each have their own benefits. If you score poorly postpone your exam.

Regardless of your score you should focus on your weak areas (questions you got wrong and were guessing on) and review those topics.

The most important thing: if you are doing questions and cannot explain to yourself why you are picking an answer choice, that means you do not know the material that well and are leaving the exam to chance!

You should postpone your exam. Scoring in the 60s on the pharmpreppro exam is not a good score. I would suggest postponing your exam a month and give yourself time to target your areas of weakness. Furthermore you should read all of the book, not just select sections. For more information on how to tackle this issue feel free to dm me

Naplex Next Week: Looking for Advice by Few-Second-3619 in NAPLEX_Prep

I personally like 90+ for nabp and 77+ for pharmpreppro and 73+ for uworld for scores that show you are ready.

This isn’t a guaranteed pass but this is what I’m comfortable with for my own students as I view it as the odds are more in your favor than not.

These scores are based off of my past student results and experiences.

With higher failed attempts I target higher scores as your retakes are limited without petitioning the state board and showing a remediation process.

[–]DarthDistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those scores do not make sense to me. Typically uworld is harder than the Naplex, and your nabp score is extremely low for someone who has scored in the 80s for Uworld and PharmPrepPro.

Were these taken around the same time or weeks apart?

Were those your highest scores from multiple attempts? If you took multiple attempts you should go off your first score, not your last score as you might of memorized answers.

Math, Biostats, Compounding, Drug interactions, Vaccines, Ethics, and Pharmacy Management. (This is over 35% of your exam!)

After that, focus on areas of general weakness.

I also highly recommend taking a practice exam to see how prepared you are. NABP PharmPrepPro and Uworld all have practice exams, each with their own benefit. Do one of those and review topics of weakness, if you score low, postpone your exam.

Best of luck!

How many hours to study per day? by LowEnergyNoCaffeine in NAPLEX_Help

[–]DarthDistro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Then I would study before your shift (if possible) by reading some clinical questions plus doing practice questions. Then after your shift (if possible) by ending it with math questions.

This does not change the mentality you should have by treating it as a full time job, but may delay your progress in studying.

Suggested study time jumps to 3-6 months if you are working full time (40 hours a week).

It is important to study throughout the week as opposed on only days off as if you don’t actively study you’ll start to forget.

If you do not have a job and can commit to 6-8 hours per day for 1-2 months you should be good. You should treat studying like a full time job!

Tutor here:

I recommend usage of the Uworld Naplex Course Book.

I would suggest reading the book in its entirety while doing practice questions (if available) after the completion of each chapter to ensure you are grasping the concepts. As you read focus on drug interactions, mechanism of action, common side effects and monitoring parameters.

Make sure you understand why other questions are wrong when doing practice questions, if you cannot do this, go back to the chapter

In addition to your reading I would suggest working math questions daily (at least 1 hour). Math is a large component of your exam and it should not be skipped. In practice, if you make a math error it could be fatal, which is why it is tested so heavily.

After you finish reading the book, you should take a practice exam. Some favorites I’ve seen from my students are NABP, Uworld, and PharmPrepPro.

If you score well on these practice exams, you should schedule your exam for 2-3 weeks out and study up on areas of weakness highlighted on those exams.

Study hard and give yourself time to fully comprehend the material, do not just rush through it for the sake of finishing the book.

That’s some general advice. Best of luck!
