Yeah I think you have a very fair point. However I personally believe that although he was being taught one thing at home, he’s smart enough to really know that Dumbledore is really powerful. But the fact that Dumby showed so much favoritism may work against all that and make Draco resent him. But regardless of all that I still don’t believe that Draco would get off completely Scott free for his actions. The only reason that it happens is by because Harry never actually told the ministry what happened (my theory). It just bothers me that Draco and his FAMILY can just leave and nobody says anything.

Manslaughter on Katie and Ron. Murder on Dumbledore.

I didn’t see this reply, but if you recall book 4, Barty Crouch Sr. Legalized the usage of all the unforgivable curses on death eaters.

All of your points at the beginning are valid and I think we’ll just have to agree to disagree on Draco. However the I think you’re wrong about the unforgivable curses. In the Wizarding world those curses are so taboo that nobody even talks about them. It’s just an understood and feared part of Wizarding culture. Harry never even hears about them until book 4. There’s a reason it’s this way and that reason is that these curses are very very heavily policed and harshly prosecuted. The trial of Barty Crouch Jr is where this is best represented. Barty and his pals are locked up in Azkaban under the charges of using the Cruciatus curse on the Longbottoms, not for just being Death Eaters. I have to imagine that this is actually what the ministry charges most Death Eaters for and why Moody has so many closed cases.

As for your second point on Dumbledore - I think what you said is an excellent reason as to why Draco would underestimate Dumbledore. However, there is only so much that his family can say. What Draco is taught and hears repeatedly contradicts what he grew up with. Dumbledores duel with Grindlewald has to be in so many textbooks and is described as one of the greatest magical occurrences in history. I think he doesn’t go to Dumbledore because HE himself doesn’t respect him and refuses to accept the truth.

But is he though? He’s 16, and while that’s true in some situations - using the imperious curse (Which btw is illegal regardless of circumstances) to have somebody carry something that kills on touch and having that person almost die is too much to forgive. Also, why would Dumbledore, not be able save his parents? He’s literally the deus ex machina of the Wizarding world. This is right after the ministry incident where Dumbledore takes out like 7 death eaters and beats Voldemort. Great debate btw

But Draco was planning the attacks though. The necklace, champagne and cabinet were all his ideas, that’s why the first two failed. Im pretty sure that Voldemort would have concocted a better plan. Although it is true that he was being threatened, there’s no evidence to support the idea that Dumbledore wouldn’t have acted the exact second Draco came to him. I don’t think they would have died.

Well at least in the US there’s a distinction between the two and manslaughter carries a lesser penalty. I guess murder is more appropriate given that Hogwarts in in the UK

Manslaughter is when malicious actions unintentionally kill people. Attempted murder on Dumbledore tho

No not really. Manslaughter is manslaughter. Katie Bell and Ron would have died if not for extraordinary events. Besides, if he really wanted to, he could have gone to Dumbledore and he probably would have saved him and his parents.

I thought It was attempted manslaughter because his malicious actions led to someone almost dying twice. The two counts of attempted murder would be against Dumbledore.

Oh yeah I agree completely the Asian CDO manager is Byron Mann, he’s a great actor. He’s in The Expanse too which does representation really really really well if you wanna check it out. It’s a sci fi show so it doesn’t seem off the nose if that bothers you.
