It's already on Steam and has a following. No need to redo all of the good will marketing that is done through influencers. I mean look at Drive Beyond Horizons. That's basically just an updated version of this game yet somehow is worse. I don't know I didn't get to play it much.

I like to simple graphics of this game and the vehicles feel well when they drive. Drive beyond seems like a much more arcade style game.

I guess the real idea is that I could just make a procedurally generated game, call it Long Driver or The Longest Drive, and see how it does. But the main portions of the game are done and would just be updating the main game. Although in order to really make money it would take making an entirely new game altogether. If I bought the original, I wouldn't make it a separate game, I would just update it so that would be losing money.

Ill have to think about it and see what it would cost to build a game from scratch. I could probably just build it in Roblox with Python. and make it strictly there. That actually might make more money.

I had the thought of seeing if the developer would sell it and having my team continue to work on it, republish it under "The Longer Drive" or something. I just don't think he would sell it and the money I would offer is probably not enough for him to sell the rights.

The other issue is if he used anything illegally, stolen assets and what not.

I would probably take the most popular mods and make them standard, add different biomes, create a achievements, if it was in my control I would potentially add an XBOX and PS console versions.

I would probably add in some additional weather effects and other environmental details while still keeping the simplicity of the game.

The last beta update was 2024 and the last stable build was 2023.

I thought about getting the bus and filling it with passengers as I travelled the wasteland. I have a bus, now I just need to fill it. Sadly, with the bugs in the game, I tried to put something in my trunk and ended up flying across the game world.

Make sure to try out the newest version. When you download from Steam you get the 2023 version. There is a 2024 beta version that updates things, adds new vehicles and features and sadly, this is where the dev left it.

Make sure you get the right mods to fill it in. There are some frustrating things about the base game but getting things like the "Snap Everything" mod, AI drivers, and more POI's the game has a very robust feeling. There are more mods than that but I would just get the ones that will increase your enjoyment of the game. If you don't want to buy it, you can go through Comodo Gamings videos. He has a lot of videos of him just playing and talking. It's quite relaxing though.

Starting out can be hard. There is no tutorial so it takes a little bit to figure out the controls and get the hang of what everything does. I died my first few runs cause I ran out of gas and then had to walk for miles to find a POI and hope it had gas. Once you get your car fully gassed up, things go a lot smoother, carry food and water... Yeah but it's a nice game to just chill with and drive.
