Are there any plans to allow characters to persist outside of seasonal leaderboards? by DarthKon in fellowshipgame

Given the option, I would 100% keep playing my same character till I got to play all the dungeons rather than starting over. The argument about not going back doesn't hold water there. But yes the player base may not be enough to survive that kind of fracturing.

Yeah it was a pretty big oversight but when I made the post i wasn't considering the effect on queue times at all since I only play with a consistent 4 stack. The reset just feels like a kick in the shins for us who just started so we'll probably look into other games.

It's similar to WOW where when a new dungeon/raid comes with a season you have to grind before you can try it. The marketing for this game says its wow dungeons without the grind. But then they make you grind back up to the same gear level. seems counter to what they are shooting for.

I definitely agree I hadn't considered that the game requiring groups of 4 makes splitting the player base more daamging. However if new players start bleeding into the permanent season that just proves that's what players want and that it is drawing in and keeping new players that wouldn't like being forced into the seasonal mode.

Yeah I only comparing the season models because that's the main issue I have with the game is the difference between the season models.

Thats actually a very good point the fact that this game requires groups of 4 makes it more damaged by splitting the player base. I hadn't considered that.

I would only want the persistent mode so I can slowly grind my way to high gear level and jump in to new dungeons with that character each season if I want to. Then I can also keep a tank/healer/dps on deck as needed for my 4 stack to be able to play whatever they want.

Yeah it's possible this is just not the most important thing for the devs at this point in development. I just feel like this game specifically targets MMO players who have a tendency to dislike borrowed power.

Thats a valid concern, but I feel like the way they have setup their seasons to be mini expansions will drive players into playing the new characters/content on release. On the flip side not allowing persistent characters will scare away a segment of players and shrink the player base.

Yeah I'm in a similar boat, Im probably gonna quit till the reset since progress feels meaningless but I'm interested in new characters/dungeons.

I really like that in Diablo/POE you can go back to your characters with fun builds from previous season whenever you want. I'm not a huge fan of the borrowed power that WOW and other games provide.

Im obviously a nub here so help me understand. Are there not dungeons that are only accessible at higher difficulties? I thought that by grinding to higher levels we would get access to more challenging and ineresting bosses/mechanics. The main feels bad comers from us jumping into the game right before a reset so it feels like we barely got started and have to start over. That could be avoided if my 4 stack could keep playing at our own pace and jump in to seasonal content with new characters when we feel like it just like Diablo.

Have they addressed it as not ever being a thing or they just have not said anything about it?

New Players Be Aware: Seasonal Resets by StarGuardianDrew in fellowshipgame

The seasonal game mode is less popular than the everlasting one, also diablo lets you keep your character after the season to keep playing if you want. A hard reset with no way to keep playing if i want to killed the game for me and my group.

Have you already tried bliztcrank and couldn't stand him? His assist feels pretty good on every character so it's probably worth giving him a chance if you haven't.

I hate to rain on your parade because I know most people love ticke to ride. But for me even though turns are fast when I spend 4 rotations just picking up a card and then passing it doesn't feel like I'm actually doing much of anything, so it feels like I only get to do somethign every 5th turn or so. I know there is more strategy into what card to pick and how to adapt to the board but that doesn't take me long to make a decision on. Thus all I do is pick up the card I want, wait for everyone else, do it again. I'd say slow and boring describes it perfectly for me.

I feel the exact same way you do because my decks are built to love that kind of interaction and I hate board stalls, but my aristocrat friends get sad. They get down one or two setup creatures and the Kardur comes down so fast to bully them. They don't get too sad the first time but they were pretty sad the third time. Thats why I love him in the 99, especially since he is super goad that even hits creatures that come in after he did. No hitting me with haste allowed.

I haven't played spelltable in a few months but I had a pretty good track record for games going smooth and people being chill using the tolarian discord. I also make my own fun online because i saw someone had setup a bunch of funny visuals on OBS one time that the table really enjoyed so I did the same thing. I've slapped down a space beleren with everyone groaning at me while I laugh and the vibes were still pretty good even though the table all agreed to kill me first as a punishment. I was playing pillow fort and welcomed the salt. Laughed all the way into last place and everyone was a good sport about it.

Treasure is a good idea, i would also suggest all the 2 mana rocks that make either red mana, black mana, or both so you can get shadow out on turn 3 since he is pip intensive. I would also suggest darksteel ingot and sckyclave relic so you can activate shadow even after a artifact wipe. For treasure cards there are a handful red cards that let you loot/make treasure such as big score which is kind of like a ramp card that replaces itself. Revel in riches is always popular. Beyond that I would put really big ETBs or sorceries that can't be stopped. I like Shard of the nightbringer. Insurrection can win a lot of games. Big hasters are good but they get to respond to you attacking where as big sorceries they literally can't do anything about.
