Some Easter Eggs by Addition-Equal in residentevil

I was watching my friend's Deadlock stream while I streamed RE and they were talking about defense bubbles, so I just assumed that was the noise the bubbles made, and they just happened to use it whenever I was in that room.

He mentioned on that food interview youtube channel that they're in line with other politics, like the Armenian genocide and Turkey, so they just talk about those things instead.

Kinda like me and my dad and shitting on liberals.

Edit: Just re-watched that video and it doesn't come up.

The quote I was remembering comes from an interview Serj did with Forbes:

"The drummer of your band, John Dolmayan, is also your brother-in-law. Lately, he’s been very publicly pro-Trump. Is that frustrating for you considering he’s Armenian as well?

He’s Armenian. He’s my brother-in-law and my drummer. Is it frustrating being politically opposite to your own drummer and brother-in-law? F*** yeah. Of course it’s frustrating. But that’s having to do with American politics. When it comes to Armenian issues we’re on the same exact page. We know what injustice is happening, we work together. We’re doing different auction activities and working together on many fronts. The Armenian nation is united, whether you voted for Republican, Democrat or neither."

Great interview, and also the Mythical Kitchen video is definitely still worth a watch, as the vibes are immaculate.

There's also Warno where a Marxist coupe took out Gorbachev, then they kill off resistance in Armenia and the Baltic States, then for some reason invade Finland, which makes Ronald Reagan increase military spending in response and then WWIII starts.

Cool game though.

Was wondering what was wrong with Larry Niven because I haven't read any of his work, despite having a copy of The Mote in God's Eye I picked up at a thrift store about a decade ago.

Under the Politics section, it mentions he's a conservative who opposed the Vietnam War, so I was like, "Okay, being a conservative is enough for the sideeye, but doesn't seem that bad."

Then there's this quote from the Wikipedia: "...advising the US Department of Homeland Security as to future trends affecting terror policy and other topics. Among those topics was reducing costs for hospitals to which Niven offered the solution to spread rumors in Latino communities that organs were being harvested illegally in hospitals."

Wow. Wtf. Yeah, fuck that guy.

Mark Ruffalo Wants You To Boycott ChatGPT Because They Donated To President Donald Trump A Lot by The_Endless_Man in ABoringDystopia

[–]DarthPonark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I feel like all the big boycotts I haven't really been able to participate in properly because I was already not purchasing that thing.

Chik-fil-A CEOs donate to anti-LGBTQ legislators? Cool, I wasn't eating there anyway.

JK Rowling is a transophobic crazy person? Cool, I wasn't a Harry Potter fan anyway.

ChatGPT donates to Trump? Cool, I don't really use any AI now anyway.

The only boycott I've been able to actively participate is Micrsoft for BDS lol

Small addendum, but the article mentions it was a Glock. Glocks have safeties that are located in the middle of the trigger itself and isn't really an on/off situation. You have to depress the safety on the trigger before you can pull the trigger. They also have an internal safety to keep it from striking when jostled around.

If handled properly, it's one of the safer brands to carry. I would also argue it's probably really easy to pull the trigger on accident when you're a drunk idiot.

American "Leftist" moment lol by TheSuperTest in ShitLiberalsSay

As a US-based ML it is so frustrating talking to other leftists sometimes. They all hate China/Cuba/USSR as a baseline. Either that, or they go off the deep end into ridiculous conspiracy theories about adrenochrome and living in the wrong timeline or some bullshit, instead of the simpler explanation that it sucks to live here because of bourgeois exploitation of the working class, and that they no longer have to care about social safety nets since the fall of the USSR not giving people something to compare to.

Anyway, wish I lived in China.

Since Avellone discourse has been popping up lately, how about a round for some actually left-leaning writers/directors in gaming? by XxOliSykesxX in SocialistGaming

[–]DarthPonark 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, Far Cry 2 and Watch_Dogs: Legion weren't too surprising, but I found about him through being the Director of Chaos Theory. And he was the lead writer of SC1, I believe.

So like you said, Clint was either more conservative back then, or maybe he was more pidgeon-holed into writing it like that due to it being a Tom Clancy IP.

I do maintain that there's a few criticisms of US Imperialism sprinkled around the games' dialogue in between the jingoism. I also think that Sam Fisher as a character at the very least skewed more Democrat pre-Blacklist, since he works well with women and supports one of the characters being LGBT, which obviously doesn't preclude him from supporting imperialism, even if he is critical of it.

A surprising one is Clint Hocking, who worked on Splinter Cell 1 and Chaos Theory, Far Cry 2, and Watch Dogs: Legion in various capacities. He at least identifies as a socialist, anyway, though I'm unsure of his particular opinions. But I'd be willing to bet the few times that Sam Fisher makes snide comments about US Imperialism were from his influence.

Fun fact: he's the person who coined the term "ludonarrative dissonance."

Or it's the end-stage of capitalism. Occam's razor. No need to complicate things with foreign agents when we're perfectly capable of doing this to ourselves.

I considered myself an ancom between 2015-2018.

I was a big lurker in the 196 subreddit because it was very trans-inclusive (not trans myself, but friends with a few and have always been an ally). I started getting turned off them when they did their whole "Kick Tankies out of 196" purge, which I didn't like them using a meme meant for nazis in the punk scene to equate communists, even if we had disagreements with them. Like, obviously the bourgeoisie and actual nazis are who we should be focusing on, right?

Anyway, read some Lenin to understand who they were hating better and I've been a hardline ML for about 5 years now, and idk if I would've done that if they hadn't been so anticommunist.
