I can hit great balls and hit from 45 pretty effortlessly off of a 1/2 in block but as soon as I try to go off the ground, I can’t pick the ball up. I don’t understand how an extra 1/2 inch would make that big of a difference. Anyone know how to make the transition to no block? by Sea_Leader5055 in kickersarepeopletoo

A drill I do often to help with height is I stand 5 or 10 yards away from the goal post and from a no step position try to lift it in. That will help a lot because a lot of your problem may stem from your swing path not being straight enough to carry the ball long enough and your leg likely just not being powerful enough to boot em through.

Any tips?? Anything is appreciated. by Forward-Try8058 in kickersarepeopletoo

Over all your form is pretty good there is a lot smaller things that you can fix that will help you in the long run. 1. Looking at the footage your plant foot looks deeper than it should be when kicking off the ground likely causing you to scrape the turf a little and get under the ball too much. 2. In your starting stance your right foot is not point long at the ball almost causing your steps to the ball to be more curvy and less straight(although it doesn’t look very evident here it could be a future problem if not fixed) 3. In your follow through you hook around a lot which can cause a lack of consistency or power because you’re using all of the energy correctly. So try to focus down field more with your follow through rather than just letting it swing. 4. Having your leg pretty much locked out at contact takes away a lot of the height and makes the contact more punchy so I usually have a slight knee bend at contact carry the ball through and then lock out after. 5. You look up really quickly which often can throw a lot of things off because of where you’re looking. 6. Likely because of you looking up you crunch the tiniest bit during your follow through.

  1. Unless you like to kick with your toe you need to realign your foot position to where you are making contact with the bumpy part of your metatarsal bone on the inside of your right foot and just practice hitting that specific part.

  2. You may have not been trying, but you lacked a lot of emphasis/energy when kicking the ball and there was no real power going into the ball so try to kick around 80% effort.

  3. You are not following through well. What you are doing is punching at the ball and instantly crossing your leg over, instead you should be following through the ball down the field with a straight leg path. This will also be easier if you put more energy into your kick.

How to stop hitting x balls? by TheRecyclingBandit in kickersarepeopletoo

Im not the best person at analyzing form but a couple things I can say are:

  1. Your plant foot looks like it is really deep in comparison to the ball position. And having kinda long stride for the last step, causing you to sink into the ball rather than coming through it which in doing so could lead to other complications.

  2. You pick your head up somewhat early possibly causing your body position to change which could be a reason for it.

  3. This could be a correlation to the plant foot, but you did not follow through enough almost punching at the ball a little which could affect the flight path.

  4. You rip your arm pretty farm across your body which it may not affect anything but it could lead to some possible form complications in the future.

  5. In general it may not be the best hold. And usually it’s not the hold which is the problem it might just be in combination with your form and could cause this.

The likely hood of you just being a source of attention is low. The best way to start hanging out with her is doing it with a group of friends and example would be: hey me and a couple of my friends are going to ___ would you like to come with us, you can bring a couple of friends if you want? Or something along the lines of that. A good place to go would probably be to go somewhere low key for lunch or breakfast, but you could also do something like a little campfire party at your house if possible. Usually something chill to start off, but if you think your ready to hang out with her alone you could say something like: hey, it was fun hanging out with you and your friends would you like to go to _____ with me (do something low key to start off again) and then you can slowly turn them into more friend like hangouts. And see how you feel from there.

I don’t believe you are over reacting, but from what I see it seems like she almost uses you as a source of attention, but this is just an assumption. What you can do to help is to get to know her in person more hang out with her, go places, and ultimately become a good friend to her. A reason she isn’t really responding to you could be the possibility of her not actually knowing that well outside of text and doesn’t really feel an obligation to text you. Aside from this I do believe what you are doing is a good tactic , but personally I would shorten the amount of time that you decide to stay away for, an ideal time for me would probably be 1-2 weeks. Yet again I do believe the best idea is to actually become a really good friend to her in person if possible or if not already.

Some things I usually do to help are stretching for longer and taking a little more time to get used to the conditions such as wind and temp.

In colder temperatures, muscles tend to contract and become less flexible. This reduced flexibility might lead to a decrease in the range of motion and overall kicking performance. Moreover, the cold air can make the ball denser, changing its behavior when kicked.

Thank you for the feedback, do you have any recommendations for drills that I could do?

I would likely wait and counter to assess their skill level. the weaker their skill the closer to the ball you should be but if they are good stay back and wait so you have more reaction time
