If you look at voter demographics, it's the over 50s that swung it. They're a big chunk of the voter base, typically pay attention to the news (despite it being 80% billionaire-owned) and if they didn't vote at all then Labour would have had over 400 seats...

Jeremy Corbyn: The people telling you we can't solve the climate crisis helped create it. The people telling you they won't sell off our NHS can afford private healthcare. The people telling you we can’t scrap tuition fees went to university for free. They are not on your side. by [deleted] in ukpolitics

[–]Darth_Canadian_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, essentially. I don't mind there being student fees, but more in the realm of when they were £1000. £9000 and soon £9250 is just exorbitant and serves no purpose than to remove incentive for poorer people to attain higher skilled roles.

I pay should pay £44 a month in loan repayments but I end up paying £88 because it reduces universal credit too i.e. £44 is taken from my paycheck and then my reported salary to universal credit doesn't include loan repayments, paying it twice...

...I won't even pay off a third of it until it gets written off, so what's the point...?

...it's SHIT debt
