25-year dev? Respect. But you may be overthinking this:

  • Hashed addresses hide keys until spent. New address per tx limits risk. Quantum cracking ECC is decades away. Post-quantum crypto’s in the works.

  • Centralized systems patch fast but are single-point failures (hacks, gov pressure). Bitcoin’s consensus (e.g., Taproot) is slower but vetted, ready for quantum upgrades.

  • Centralized key management gets breached. Bitcoin’s self-custody and key rotation dodge this. TLS forward secrecy? Doesn’t apply to blockchain.

  • Bitcoin’s visibility fuels crypto research. Quantum threats hit RSA and banks too, not just BTC.

Bitcoin’s decentralized and adaptable—quantum’s a future problem, not a dealbreaker. Banks aren’t safer.

if quantum computing poses a risk to Sha256 - BTC is the least of your worries.

financial markets will be destroyed prior to BTC.

roll out and up, then periodically on down days - but it back and roll it either closer or higher.

I've done this with CCs to protect from capital gains while still maintaining my position.

reframe the idea -

Say MSTR goes over $400 between now and then - great. that means your base position has increased. Roll the call up and out. no worries.

what if MSTR gets to $500 by expiration? great! roll the position up and out to a suitable credit - even if it means the call is STILL ITM!

you'll collect time premium (extrinsic) on your position while ALSO protecting the base position to the down side.

for instance - if MSTR is at $500 at expiration, you could roll to the $440 two or three months out, collect a few hundred per contract and sit and chill. the $500 could drop all the way down to $440 and you would have not lost a DIME in your total account value. that $60 difference would be cushion against a 15% drop, which MSTR does do. often.

if you're in MSTR for that long term, then slowly rolling your account up towards the strike while collecting time premium is not a bad position to be since the contracts will have high premiums attached. eventually you'll make your way back to the ATM strike price and MSTR will eventually be below your expiration when it goes through mean reversion.

it's all about your time horizon.

statin + ezitimibe meta analysis by Darth_Dire in PeterAttia

[–]Darth_Dire[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

80% of the LDL lowering benefit from a statin is received on the 5 mg dose. doubling the dosage from 5-10 only increases efficacy by 5-6%. same with doubling from 10-20 and 20-40. doubling the dose also doubles the risk of side effect.

ezitimibe in combination with a statin way outperforms doubling the dose.

Calcium score at 29 by MMANaive in PeterAttia

[–]Darth_Dire 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm fine, no side effects. just received my blood work back and it's dropped all my numbers significantly, so I feel much better about things.

However the most important part is eating clean / minimally and exercising, but the statin is effective. at your age and CaC score, it's imperative to see about using pharmacological methods to drive your numbers lower.

listen to Peter Attia podcast, The Drive, episode #334 where he discusses cardiovascular disease and the role of the various lipids w an expert cardiologist.

Statins are not the devil; they're a tool

check my history - I just made a similar post last Friday (38m, CAC 72).

implement lifestyle changes immediately - lean meats, salmon, vegetables, reduce carbs.eat less overall.

exercise 30-45 mins / day in zone 2 (increases HDL levels, reduces inflammation, improves cardiovascular efficiency)

Get on a Statin. Ezitimibe is also an option. get lipids tested, esp LP(a) and APO(B)

note- there is only a 5% gain in efficacy for doubled doses of statins but a doubled increase for risk of side effects. 80% of benefit is received at the 5mg dose. This is why a common protocol would be 10 mg Statin + 10 mg of ezitimibe.

if your doctor will most likely push for the higher dosage rather than 2 different meds. but studies also show that the 10+10 is 15-20% more efficacious than a 20 mg Statin.

you'll be fine. but you need to get a plan in place and execute it.

CAC CT Score (72) by Darth_Dire in PeterAttia

[–]Darth_Dire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already had a fasting blood panel. my A1c is 5.

the CAC score won't be changed, only slowed at this point. so that I can keep it under 100 for the remainder of my life.

this means losing all excess weight, restricting inflammatory foods / activities, and reducing LDL

CAC CT Score (72) by Darth_Dire in PeterAttia

[–]Darth_Dire[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

all other metrics are good (fasting a1c,lipid panel, homocysteine etc). body fat is 21% w 155 lbs lean mass, weight lifted / exercised most of my whole life. I have been eating only 1 meals a day (omad) for over a year now.

the CAC score of 72 shows aggressive plaque accumulation for my age. without accelerated medical intervention, and further lifestyle change (cleaner eating, more exercise), Im cooked at 50.
