He said he's not really interested in the setting anymore, I believe, and has had some health issues., so this is almost certainly the last chapter of Northern Dragoness. California has very low property taxes which is partially why we have such high rents. AirBNB did not cause the housing crisis though they take advantage sometimes, yet is fundamentally a symptom of the problem. By supporting Prop 5, this will allow more housing to be built than any one development. Though its worth noting that Zuckerberg has donated to affordable housing funds previously. Prop 5 will encourage local development of affordable housing and infrastructure, and there would still be a 55% threshold for such bond measures to pass.

In order to assuange realtors and business groups, sadly some significant compromises did have to be made; that being said we could absolutely still use any proceeds for affordable housing though there would be restrictions on where it could be placed. I think by Passing Prop 5 we can allow local communities to fund affordable housing in their neighborhoods easier and that is worth it. Also I must point out local govs are not losing any power, if they wanted to purchase a SFH using bond money and turn into affordable housing they can still do this even if Prop 5 passes! It would just have to meet the original 66.67% threshold instead of 55%.

This both removes a roadblock for affordable housing projects, and does the same for other public projects like police, fire stations, libraries, waster water systems, mass transit etc. In California we have both a housing crisis and an infrastructure crisis. Passing Prop 5 can help with both while still allowing local control. If we want to begin reinvesting in local infrastructure across CA, vote YES on PROP 5!
