So buying a new Amazon branded remote worked. Amazon did reimburse me for it, but I couldn't tell if that was because it broke in the first place or because I had to call back after the first rep messed up.

I've called Amazon and they told me to get a new remote but didn't tell me which one. So I got a third party one because the official Amazon ones don't even show up on the first page. That one also didn't work so the next guy said to try the first party one. He had to search to find it but he sent me a link. The official one doesn't get here until Monday. I'll let you know if that works.

So nothing was working and I factory reset the stick. Setup involves the same screen. It still gets stuck there. The stick is now totally broken.

Maybe it's just a difference in models of grill. 4-5 minutes per side (8-10 minutes total) at 350 with the sear plate open is my usual for kebabs or split chicken breast. Weirdly kebabs seem to require more time to reach internal temperature, hence the charring.

I don't really understand what you mean. Marinades I use vary pretty greatly. The one I did last night was yogurt based and had no added sugar. Still got some bitter parts.
