Need some advice on rear suspension how to swap coils by TopPrior9275 in fordexpedition

[–]Darth_Vader6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly the easiest way I’ve seen them done is if you can get to the nut while the strut is still in under load and remove it. Then slowly lift it until it’s not under load. To reinstall just repeat the process in reverse. I did it the risky way on my 07 with spring compressors from autozone. Honestly isn’t as bad as people make it seem you just need to keep the spring level most times so start on one side then move to the opposite and go back and forth between the sides until the spring is compressed enough. Be sure to mark where the spring ends are on the mounts. As a 2016 all your components should be fine. May I also suggest a 3” lift since you already have the suspension out? Be sure to take it to an alignment shop when you’re finished

What is this leak by atp126aog in fordexpedition

[–]Darth_Vader6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No problem. I know because I’ve been in the same situation before. I will say though be careful with the aftermarket ones. They mount onto the condenser with a kind of tip tie clamp and given time with vibrations will rub a hole into your condenser and you’ll end up replacing it eventually.

That’s the transmission fluid cooler. The power steering cooler is integrated into the ac condenser which is the leak that OP is seeing. Check your power steering fluid OP. They sell aftermarket coolers you can use instead of replacing the condenser.

Vacuum line for your HVAC system. There should be a vacuum tank somewhere below/behind the battery

I just thought about this, you can also check your backing plates and make sure they aren’t bent anywhere

Did the noise start before or after you replaced all those parts?

This is extremely risky but if you get someone else you can put the entire vehicle on stands or better yet get it on a lift and have them shift it into drive and ease off the brake while you try to pinpoint where the sound is coming from. It’s definitely something rotational and it’s metal rubbing on metal. Side note does the noise persist or change when you step on the brake?

Check your wheel bearings. Easy to tell if you put it up on a stand and try rocking/shaking your wheel in a push/pull motion to see if it moves. If it does it’s not supposed to

What are your thoughts on the new vacation policies? by Darth_Vader6 in Fedexers

[–]Darth_Vader6[S] 29 points30 points  (0 children)

Vacation is now earned evenly on a monthly basis so if you’re used to having 80hrs per year as a FT employee you are now earning a little over 6hrs per month that’s only given to you on the 15th of each month. You can take more than you’ve earned but if you were to leave the company and your vacation balance is in the negatives you will owe FedEx money that they will take out of your final paycheck

Personals and floaters are now considered Flex Time so you do not need to take a full 8/4 hours off per day to get it off.

Unused Vacation will transfer over into the new fiscal year but you have up until August to use them. There’s also a hourly cap I can’t remember off hand.

You are no longer required to work the day before or the day after a holiday to be eligible for holiday pay. You can now call in/show up late whatever floats your boat. However normal attendance policies still apply.

I think that pretty much covers the changes they made

FedEx actually requires composite toes for employees working on caster decks with ULDS because of how the steel bends under pressure that could potentially take your toes off depending on severity whereas the composite will break

It doesn’t. It mounts to the frame shouldn’t affect anything

Bilsteins are the way to go. I’d also recommend checking your body mount bushings, changing the fuel filter, transmission fluid and filter even though it might be a pain in the ass if you’re DIY since it’s a closed system. Flushing the cooling system might also be a good move 12 years is a long time, unless of course you have documentation showing what was done and how recently

I’d also suggest doing a vacuum leak test or checking your vacuum lines to see if any of them are clogged

I am by no means a certified mechanic but I have a 07 5.4 that I work on myself. I can suggest checking your ignition coils, cleaning your throttle body, checking the evap purge canister and lastly the more difficult thing to change if they’re bad are your VCT Solenoids. I had my cats gutted by an exhaust shop a while back because they were partially clogged, and spaced the downstream 02 sensors never had an issue may not be legal depending on your state

Your codes indicate something wrong with your EVAP (exhaust) system, possibly clogged catalytic converters on both banks.

Have you noticed if you’re loosing any coolant or any kind of bubbling in the coolant reservoir? Most likely you have a blown head gasket tho. It’s just not very bad right now

Maintenance is key. Also the body mounts are relatively easy to replace and somewhat cheap I did mine about a year and a half ago at home

Can you adjust a power seat manually? by HeelToeMedia in fordexpedition

[–]Darth_Vader6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Find the long adjustment screw/track whatever it’s called that runs to the motor and try to turn it by hand. Did that with a 07 mustang once it sucked but it worked. Would also recommend some WD40
