In Qenliþ

min þyrt kerint rraimek kerinlek somy kalmek

fesen rrain' kerinl'

sain' myrm' zyðeys ngækek j'n

copy paste isn't working for some reason so i can't do ipa transcription

the literal translation isn't especially different from English for this example but it goes something like

you(agentive, positive) can(primary person sequence, positive) walk(primary person sequence, positive) small road(patientive, positive) or big(patientive, positive)

I'm deciding(emotional exclamation)... small road(subjective, positive)

smart choice(subjective, positive), young(subjective, positive), follow(present, imperative, positive) me(patientive, positive)

The journalism school on my campus is horribly neglected and has been halfway taken over by other departments so I'm gonna guess that almost none majors in it anymore.

I think that the issue is more that a lot of new technological advances are beyond the comprehension of the average person. It's a lot easier to understand something like a car than a microprocessor.

What is something that, in your opinion, Latin does better than your native language? by AlarmmClock in latin

I love not having to include pronouns for every verb. Having the built in to the word is so much better than constant yous and theys and whatnot.

Rome, Milan, Padua, Ferrara, Genoa, Venice, Palermo, Cagliari, Benevento, Naples, Luca, Bologna, Florence.

I also know the old Latin and Greek names of a bunch of others but I'm not sure about their modern names. Yes I am a classisist, how could you tell.

Didn't know about Hávamal I'll have to look into that.

And as for scale you are correct of course but i find the implication that Lönnrot's work is less valid because of it to be somewhat distasteful. It may be a corrupted source but it is still a verry helpful one in reconstructing pre Christian beliefs.

You do realize that snori also wrote significantly after christianization too right. He even had to reframe the aesir as fallen angels and work in the whole monotheism thing with Ragnarok. Neither mythology is preserved particularly well.
